So - the latest edition of the Reg't Assoc'ns newsletter arrives today and they are looking for volunteers from the ex-members to take part in the Viersdaage in Nijmegen next year.
I rather fancy doing this (I know - latent masochistic tendencies re-emerging again ) - even though it would mean missing the first couple of days of the W&P show- so thought I would enquire of the gret collective that is HMVF whether any one else has ever done it. And if so - what to take, what to expect etc??
Any out there got the experience to share????
-
Damn - that puts me at 296 pounds - or in Enigma's terms 134.6 Kg :schocked: :schocked: :-o :-o
-
IIRC - SRS was (is???) Special Reconnaissance Squadron. Sure you're not getting confused with the SBS - the floating version of the SAS
-
System must have taken a liking to me as I've had no problems at all......
-
Congratulations!!!
It was indeed Pirbright!!! - IIRC it was in 1978...
-
IIA or 3??? Can never recall their (SRS) founding date............
-
John, you're not over weight, you're like me, undertall, I checked my height/weight ratio & I should be 8ft 6inches tall
Glad I'm not the only one after all!! :-) :-) :-)

Where was Chertsey??
Hardyferret
Approx. NNE of the location in the picture.........

I think the only words I could use to describe the content of that article would get this site shut-down!!

Noooo - Post war UK is the way to go!!
He says sticking the wooden spoon in and giving it a twirl!!!

Yes, you can own and show a VRC 353. But once you turn it on, you break the law.
If you really want to be picky, once the radio is available for use (connected up and power available) an offence has been committed!
</snip>
Thanks Andy - thats the clarification I needed :-) Will also save a few bob as the need/desire to find a working set is removed and a non-op unit will suffice.
-
Also close - but a touch too far North................ :-) :-)

You could get a very nice Saracen for £6K+
-
Hang on - I've seen some of Lees preferred ways of "illuminating" things - and I'm not sure they are a good idea in enclosed spaces!!!! :schocked: :-o
-
I wouldn't have minded being pulled by Sally James!!!
-
Nope - he'd have got wet then :-o :-o

Here's another one of the old days.......
A series 3 LightWeight being winched out on a Tirfor - it;s not stuck, the PSI just thought some practice in using the winch would be useful - the location of the vehicle gives you an insight into his sense of humour!!!
-
Nice one Lee!!!!! :-) :-) :-)
Must admit - when I read the title the first thought was you'd tried double-parking the Fox on some!! :schocked:
-
On that basis - I think you should be OK as you are. A phone call to your insurers is generally a good bet if you are going to carry any one in the back.
Plating is generally only needed if carrying the specified load weight.
Again, like Ian, I.m open to correction here though................
-
Wow - interesting reading!!!!!! Thanks Jack :-)
So - it is possible to operate a VRC_353 WITH a license?? Or are those frequency bands off-limits all together???
-
I guess the question is - "how used for commercial gain"???
This might have a bearing on the answers you seek!

The RLC Museum holds the B Vehicle Record cards previously held by the Museum of Army Transport.
There is a non-refundable research fee for enquiries of this kind. For the research of one vehicle, there is a charge of £25 and £15 for any additional vehicles accompanying your enquiry.
If you would like to proceed with your enquiry please send us as much information as you can about your vehicle your full Postal Address and a cheque payable to the RLC Museum Trust Fund.
The Royal Logistic Corps Museum Collections
The bulk of the RLC Museum collection is made up from two of the regimental museums of the forming corps; the Royal Corps of Transport Museum, previously situated at Buller Barracks in Aldershot and the Royal Army Ordnance Corps Museum, in Blackdown – both now closed. Unfortunately none of the vehicles held by the RCT Museum were transferred; these instead were held at the Museum of Army Transport in Beverley and then at the National Army Museum’s store after the Museum of Army Transport closed.
