  1. fire is a killer for sure, insurance can do little I guess to restore these items...although I hope some of them are salvageable...good luck with the project is what I SAY..and its a lesson to us all. Dont underestimate the perils of fire when working with petrol and other inflammable material...very very dangerous, I nearly destroyed my best zil 131 once due to a small petrol leak...very close indeed, luckily someone had a powder fire extinguisher handy and was quick of the mark...

  2. sorry got to disgaree, everything i have bought from there without seeing it first has turned out to be a piece of doggy doo and cost a shed load more to fix...always take a look at the one you want if you can...just my humble but experienced opinion...

  3. 50 of them at Whitam's apparently.

Not much chance of one of them sneaking under DVLA's radar. Not after that well publicised case down South of tracked armour shenanigans.

wow another 50...that is a lot...might try to get me a cheap one for a small project I have...cut it about and turn it into an off road carryall with a small flat bed and crane...does the k60 have a hydraulic pump that could be used for a small crane..

could do with some of those drawings too explaining the routes of someof those cable sets is great...

  4. after all the ideas I think the simplest way is going to be to go K60...old engine I know but its here it works and is multifuel, will be perfect for the site work I do with her...just got to work it all out now...and sort the air compressors and such things, going to get a less noisy compressor...sort that damn noise out...

  5. the diesel cvrts have to be on the way out soon....they will be good, but i suspect that a lot of this could be going to other users in the world...the army is getting wise to the sale of these things and their value...

us collectors will be left out in the cold a bit I suspect....

in europe most of the ex soviet block countries are re arming with european equipment and replacing it all...there will be loads of ex russian stuff about soon...trouble is prices have gone silyy because a lot of african and balkan states are buying them up at big ticket prices...bad news again for us collectors...

t 55's up at 20k and rising, t72's up to 30k and rising, bmps 15 k and rising, brdms 8-9k and rising....

I understand that the czech army are getting rid of 750 BMP-1's thats a lot of toys...

  6. theres always one, I enjoyed it anyway...and not sure how much more I could have done in a flat arena with a few partially crushed cars in it...and martials telling us to go steady...i got told off by the safety marshall because he said i was going to tip it over...? boring indeed...

  7. considering what has happened in the oxidization of the alloy, i doubt you will find any metal left with which to treat...all that the rust removers do is either turn it into and inert barrier or etch out the rust..you can do that with the alloy by simple rubbing it down with a bit of solvol...not sure you can turn the oxidized alloy into anything without heating it...will ask a friend of mine who is a metallurgist...(for maclaren racing) just thought i would name drop there...

The biggerst issue for alloy and steel is the electolosis effect, you have to break the metal to alloy connection by fitting insulating rubber pieces...its essential as electrolosis will eat the alloy away in weeks...

  8. this stuff should be remembered, and never forgotten...its seems to me that people have forgotten the horror of war, or the beauty of freedom...one or the other as we seem to be heading into ever more conflicts, the ever spoken lest we forget phrase seems to be lost on most people today...it seems sad we are at war in todays age...but innevitable with the 'holier than thou' attitude of so many people these days....
