  1. Thanks, will try again and upload a picture, it becomes very clear then, I am fairly certain the metal posts are from the M35 series of trucks, if they are, there could be a set for sale.

     

    Can`t see picture either , but early GMC , Chev`s had the side stakes from steel , and top wood . later it went on to be 3 pieces wood and 2 metal corners . M series trucks also had wooden stakes.

  2. Just the point i was making. There is no issue with real ex mil vehicle of any type in my book.

    What I said was I was supprised at the amount of civvy vehicles that attended. I was at the back of Kitcheners field and by friday night I was surrounded by for example....Ford Focus, VW Golf I could go on. If these vehicles are used to transport true ex-mil vehicles or even kit to a degree OK. BUT when they are used just as method to get cheap camping and entry I for one dont think its right and not fair on others who have made the effort.

    I would be interested in what they filled in on the entry form.

     

     

    The only way to get around the everyday car thing then would be to say a show is for vehicles built from say 1914 till 1980. OK there will be again people who find a way around it , but limits their sources.

There are trucks from the 50ies with almost identical double reduction axles , these diffs should be possible to adapt to the Diamond axles .Problem is that you have to go to the States to find them on an old truck . if you increase the speed more than 33 mph , than the engine won`t pull uphill anymore . gearbox modification also only can increase speed a bit , otherwise prop shafts revs. are getting to high . And oil in axles starts to foam .

    There were always these talks over here from the heavy haulage companies that they turned over the transfer case gears , but again the prop shafts would spin to fast.

  4. BSA folding bikes and infantry bikes can have 3 collors , service brown , a green collor like some ammo boxes have too , and , an olive drab collor. This also aplies to the Ammo boxes, for example the 25 Pr boxes are also deliverred in brown or green . WD marked jerry cans from 1943 for example are almost all in a dessert yellow , the 1944 marked ones are almost all green , water cans black or sevice brown .

  5. there is no relation between chassis number and Z number . They were just radomly parked , and then the Z numbers were aplied.

    Yours must be from the 1939 contract , in 1940, the following contract had u channel step brackets . There was a start contract for 500 MW`s , and a following up contract in 39 , about 3000 were built in 39 , starting from 1001. your steps should be made from a single wooden plank ,in 1940 was the change to the u channels and 3 wooden piece step . somewhere I must have the two 39 contract numbers .Will dig them out.

Bedford used a black primer , I found it on most of my Bedford , mudguards and bonnet included. over it was this early british olive drab , inside the dash it was well preserved , over it was another coat olive drab , and than a rather greenish paint finish with no markings and finally a coat white , and red as final coat .

    This black primer is far superior to the olive drab they used , so maybe it came off during the years , on my chassis under the body there were only few spots were the olive drab was still attached.

    No problem to do a few more , but I still have to fill them in with black or red , as soon as somebody knows that , I can make a few .

    They are zinc plates etched . Dash pannel ones are also available , and the fuel plates for the battery box are also done .

    I'll have to just keep an eye out on ebay but i can start with what i've got.

     

    In guessing they were either Service Brown or OD. What colour did you use?

    check inside of frame were the steering bearings are mounted , usually you will find the correct colour there , mine had this ( like a lot of ammoboxes have , 25 pr etc) green on it , some are Brown .

This is another new project , sanded down rear door , and found on top of 2 layers olive drab the markings from the Highland Division , and on top of that were 2 layers deep bronze green (plate says rebuilt in 54 , must have something to do with the bronze green ) on that is a grey primer and dessert yellow , must have been a seventies paint job restoration.

    On the door are some markings and an emblem with on the bottom the text "The Guards"P1010005.jpg
