1. The heavy-duty artillery hauler you’ll see here is the famed MAZ-537, and it’s a real beast. The tree stump definitely isn’t small, so you can see why you would need something this big and powerful to uproot it. The MAZ is well-known for its hauling capabilities, but tree roots can run very deep. It’s tough to say who will win this battle, but some more background about this truck tractor may give you a better idea of its odds here.

  2. i have put some thought to loading the tank and i've always managed fine with someone to guide me on but to try to do it alone would be tricky. if it had to be done then i could modify the trailer so the tracks would run in a channel which was one of my thoughts on buying a skelly trailer and converting it, as you would end up with a purpose built cromwell trailer. the down side of that being the trailer would be almost useless for any other kind of load and it is that reason alone that steers me toward a standard low loader trailer but then you end up back where you started with regard to always needing a guide. maybe like paul says a big winch is essential.

Using a transit would be an idea, similar to how the aircraft line up for the terminal

  3. This question stems from the post regarding the Sterling SMG.

The 9mm SMG with the folding stock was used as the weapon in the first Star Wars film, now the fourth.

Do members know of other situations where a weapon was adapted for a different use in a film?

  4. This is one of my SLR's, my favourite and also the Bren which will both be for my ferret.

Never used the 7.62 slr wooden stock but the plastic, always felt it was a rifle unlike the 5.56 slr (SA80). When being trained for a range conductors course for the Navy, did an afternoon on the Bren. My father always said that it had the part with the longest name but smallest part

  5. Does any one have a wiring diagram for the lighting system in particular reference to the convoy lighting. I have an issue where the dash board light for map reading seems to be permanently on.

Also does any one have a code for the fuse box. I have checked all the fuses but seem to have an issue with the indicators, they have stopped working but the horn still operates.

Yes I am a newby in working on mechanics

  6. Every one, thanks for the help, I would also like to thank the lady at Land Rover who looked up the date when the vehicle departed from the factory, in this case it was the date of the manufacture.

The MoT passed second time as they were unfamiliar with the lighting system on an MoD land rover.

The documents are off to the DVLA for registration

  7. I had Katy on Jersey plates, and she required an MOT before the English registration was issued. No issues, though I did use an MOT station that had experience of weird vehicles. I'd ring around the local stations till you find someone who knows what their talking about.

Tony, my understanding is if it has a civie plate no matter what country there is no issue because it has been registered, the issue here is technically it is not registered with the DVLA as a civilian vehicle

  8. As many will tell you, you do not need registration plates to get an MOT. You can insure usually temporarily on the chassis number and take it to the MOT station. They will issue a cert using the chassis/vin number so you can then register the vehicle. I've recently done that with a snatch Land Rover and a few other vehicles in the past. The test station need to check their facts, I am sure you can help them with that, or go somewhere else.

let us know how you get on.

    cheers

    Iain

ps, I wonder what they mean by Display Plates, they are usually not road legal for one reason or another and you cannot use the old MOD number, that would be an offence???.

This was my understanding from the DVLA but was told after their offices shut so I couldn't check, well off again to try for the MoT

  9. Has any one come across ion where you have a vehicle direct from the MoD, to get it registered for the first time you need an MoT.

The test station has advised it will fail the MoT as it does not have a registration plate, therefore cant register it for a number plate.

They suggested using display plates but feel this could lead to problems at a latter date
