  1. here's a pretty cheesy "TV show" with the vehicle in it, oddly enough they're trying to fix the brakes :-D http://www.smithsonianchannel.com/videos/the-weapon-hunter-tank-destroyer/38337
  2. glad to help out, although I'd rather watch it on you-tube without the adverts. Hopefully they upload them in a reasonable time frame as far as your Italian contact, there can't possibly be that many collectors in Italy who specialize in military communications equipment named Mauro and are fluent in English? maybe try some Italian miltaria forums using google translate? looks like they're in Lombardy
  3. I use Firefox so this is what I did. go to tools, add on's. Search for Hot spot Shield free VPN Proxy Unblock sites 1.2.87 add it to your browser, then in the upper right hand corner of your web-page by the Icons for home, favorites, etc. click on the symbol for Hotspot Shield and then in the window, virtual location. There are 12 countries to choose from, choose the symbol for UK. It asks for a password but you can type in any random thing you want. Doing this and using a UK IP address I was able to go directly to the Quest homepage and watch the episode there. There are advertisements but not as bad or obnoxious as they are here in the US.
  4. absolutely. fame is highly contagious, like Herpes:-D show will need a good name Tank Diggers? Armor Excavators?
  5. S3-E3 was good BTW, I suspect not many people outside the UK know that a chunk of Great Britain was occupied by the Germans for all of WW2. Also nice to see they might finally pull that Sdkfz 8 body out of those tunnels before it completely turns to dust.
  6. awesome, just like the Nazi gold train dig,............ without the empty holes :-D
  7. a lot of these collectors don't want their personal info out there for a number of reasons, theft is one. with this stuff having the value it does, and usually sitting out in some out-building, it's understandable. Then there's that guy in Germany who had his Panther tank stolen by the government. :-( for some reason Quest has not put E3 on you-tube yet. I wound up watching on their web-site, but I had to spoof my IP location to make it look like I was accessing from the UK. If your in the UK you should be able to watch it here http://www.questtv.co.uk/video/combat-dealers-3-channel-islands-nazi-occupied-britain/
  8. wow, you guys are smack in the middle of the orchard, kudos to the owner for being so accommodating. Any idea how may vines will you be replacing to get it out ?
  9. yes? hope there's 2 more back there, but even if not there's how many of these in the world, half dozen?
  10. wow, congratulations, both on finding the Tank and NOT finding the water main :-D turret ring? as in no turret present? how deep did you have to go btw?
  11. best of luck , happy hunting, and we''ll all be thinking rusty thoughts until tomorrow
  12. digging in the middle of the night? sounds morel like grave robbing than Tank recovery :-D
  13. finally, after 60 years rotting out in the weather, indoors and under resto https://www.facebook.com/Flakpanzer-Restoration-Project-1178917725527182/
  14. sure enough, pics of the mascot 1600 look exactly like my Turnmaster, they even copied the paint colors although mine is a light gray on top while the Colch is a greenish gray. I've never seen a Harrison before but I must say that having the Y-Z dial controls reversed from left/right would really throw me off after 30 years of using them the other way around. Even my 13" Clausing from 1979 has the traditional arrangement. Makes you wonder how that came about? those were fighting words in some shops here at one time :-) CNC for production is fantastic, especially with a bar feeder, but I really don't see all that much advantage in CNC lathes for prototype and even short runs. Judging by the prices, a nice used Colchester 1600 still looks to be fetching $10K+ and a brand new Turnmaster clone will set you back a full $25K, so they haven't become typewriters just yet. LOL, if the Russians are anything like the Serb's, then customer service is tenuous at best of times, much less if they feel you're not being respectful. The restaurant scenes always crack me up though, Bruce seems to find the most horrendous things on the menu from crickets in Asia to fermented fish? in Russia, poor Freddie. Anyone know for sure what that last dish was? it's really nice to see those guys stroll through Moscow like any other modern, 1st world Capitol though and no longer like walking thru Pyongyang with government minders on your heels.
  15. Episode 2 was a bit of a snoozer, traveling all the way to Russia for 2 hats and a Sdkfz 251 clone chassis? Some funny parts though and maybe more interesting if your into firearms right you are. I didn't know this until today , but after a quick search turns out my Turnmaster (sold by Lagun machine tools) is apparently a Colchester clone, or the what is today Clausing Colchester Harris. Almost most certainly made in Taiwan , which sucks, but it's been a solid machine , is 30 years old now, and most importantly they still support it with replacement parts.
  16. yup, as with S1 & 2 , you'll see the episodes are aired out of order. So even though the Panther is visible now it won't "arrive" at the farm till later in the series. I Can't blame Bruce for this , he's not the producer . The progress of this restoration for AAAM is posted on their FB page Saw part of episode 2 today and was tickled to see a smaller version of my turn-master 17" x 60" engine lathe.
  17. for all the lovers and the haters :-D S3-E2 (looks like Quest is posting the episodes themselves about 4 days after it airs, which is a huge plus, no more scouring thru pirated garbage) in russia
  18. they did some similar stuff in season 1 and/or 2 . I asked if it was a good idea to just stand around , with no cover, while firing battlefield weapons and folks here seemed sure it was just pyrotechnics. I don't know one way or the other, but like you pointed out the scenes are spliced. The projectiles launched likely duds. Boat and car appeared rigged with some kind of device + adhesive , but it's a TV show, no point in someone getting killed just to film an episode . Personally, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near 70 year old live munitions
  19. watched secrets and spies last night, much fun as usual. Pretty sure the Panzerschrek fired at the end is not the one from the electrolysis dip, but it's a TV show right :-) Tim, it's now Season 3, show is more popular than ever. S4 is deal done and 14 episodes scheduled. Sure doesn't seem like any criticism at this point even matters? About the only really bad thing about this show, and it's a big one, if your a true collector/buyer your purchase prices are going up proportional to popularity. Get your Panzers while the gettin's good :-D
  20. thank you, it says 7 days left to view in left corner, and then a black screen with "no videos available at this time". So must be a region code problem. Dammed broadcasting syndicate  If I was a super computer whiz i could probably fake my IP or whatever, but i'm not C'MON DVD release !
  21. btw, no Sky here and I haven't able to find S3 anywhere , any leads ?
  22. OMG, read this 10 minutes ago and still laughing. Maybe there, this is all a terrible cliche, but for other English speaking parts of the world it's better than taking a picture next to a palace guard with a bear skin hat. I mean this cockney slang, or whatever it is, people just eat it up well that's a win then:-) here "fruitcakes" would would be an improvement. gun-nuts, wing-nuts, and preppers are not seen in a very good light. Scary and dangerous more like. What I actually really like about the show is that it portrays military collectors as people passionate about preserving history and the things that shaped our world, A little eccentricity is an important part of the formula, makes them more likeable and less threatening IMO. I can't help but see the show as helpful to the hobby , just my 2 cents

I haven't heard anything about that but the new exhibit hall (with a roof that doesn't leak) is pretty nice :-) this is where it all is now , land acquired in 2013 and then? I don't really understand it to be honest, the vehicles are presumably national relics, yet the foundation is private, but the army is contributing some people? the storage building looks like it's from the civil war, but at least everything appears to at least have a roof over it. http://www.armorcavalryheritagefoundation.org/
  24. wow, 16! how many this year, 10 or 12? Looks like they're going to do some goofy stuff on Dad's army which is ok but hopefully there's more techie hands on material too. the bad part is this has to be pulling them out of the shop too. Reminds me of my favorite author who can't get new books out because he's doing book-signings all year
