  1. Hello, The top one is part of the tool kit, on bedford, mw, ox, oy and QL, not to sure of the other one. Regards Rippo
  2. Hello, Yes its a breather that goes to the pipe on top of the carb.
  3. Hello, The OX engine number makes no difference. The meccano is a homemade addition, possibly holding the small pipe (89) in place?
  4. I've just looked in the hand book i have and it says 25psi front and back. Regards Rippo
  5. Hello Richard, Don't think it'll make much difference with those tyres. Think i did mine to 35 psi. If the truck seems to bounce a bit, thats just what mw's do on those tyres. Regards John
  6. Hello Richard, That looks really smart, well done, Regards Rippo
  7. Hello Richard, I have had a look at an original wiring loom taken from a 1944 mw. To my suprise both the trailer socket and the diff light are fitted with the standard loom. I didm't have my camera but i will take a photo on the morning. From the switch for the diff light, the wire that goes to the diff light has a live for the trailer socket braching off about 6 inches before the diff light. The junction box, switch, trailer socket, and diff light are all still attched to the loom i have. What year is the wiring diagram your using? Maybe a diagram from a 1944 manual will show this. Regards John
  8. Hello, I came a cross this little truck on my travels. From the one picture i have it doesn't look quite right. does anyone have any other pictures or know of any others?
  9. Hello Richard, Pete is spot on with what he's said. It would seem logical the mw's would have a trailer socket, but there is no mention of them, so as pete said probobly a post factory addition. Still a nice item to have on your truck. The diff lights are still available NOS from john mortor. Regards Rippo
  10. Hello richard, The pipes on yours should be steel, early one were copper. Again this is something I've yet to tackle, but will be doing over the next few weeks, i think the olives and fittings are easy enough to get hold of. Let me know how you get on. Regards rippo
  11. Hello Richard, Sorry i've not replied to your email. If you contact john mortor he has modern equivalents of the zs filter. They use a screw on filter as the bottom half, a much better option than the old ones. i been told the look exactly like the originals, Regards Rippo
  12. yeap, Youy can get printable transfers for a normal printer, Sparky did somefrom my scans and they looked very good. I do intend to have some made, just not had the time yet.
  13. Hello Danny, Yes, i can put some drawings up, looks like Alex might still be waiting too, sorry mate. What year is your bedford? Regards Rippo
  14. Hello Richard, I had a look at the other mw i have and that has two jumction boxes also, both look of a similar age. I'm still to put the wiring in my mw, so am a bit unsure of a few thing till i do, but i have plenty of pictures. I'm pretty sure the live feed for the headlamp comes from the junction box on the other side, the wire clips on the front panel, behind the radiator. Hope these pictures help, i have some spare wires in my loom for indicators, which aren't used, hopefully i can resolve this when i re-fit it.
  15. Hello Richard, The picture above showing the second junction box is not my mw, it's maurice donkers truck and it's very original. but mine has two junction boxes also, so i wouldn't trust the wiring diagram. Saying that the parts list only lists one junction box also .:banghead: But i'm pretty sure its a standard fitment. Why would the holes for it be there otherwise? I think its for the single headlamp, it states in the manual when using one headlamp and driving on the other side of the road the head lamp should be changed to the opposite side, with having these junction box's the wiring would remain the same, otherwise you'd have to take the wire from behind the radiator, and then it would be far to long, and possibly a struggle to remove without undoing the front. Maybe some other mw owners can tell us how many they have. Regards Rippo
  16. Hello Richard, The two junction boxes are original i've seen it on other MW's. There is another wire coming off the passenger side box, think its for the side light, i'd have to check mine to be sure. Regards rippo
  17. Hello, This one? Then the wire goes over the radiator, to the same type of junction box on the other side.
  18. Hello Richard, The choking plate is pressed aluminium, the letter are slightly raised. The plate on the steering collum is the coolant draining instruction. This is just painted-Transfer on a aluminium plate. Will put a scan of the choking plate later, Regards Rippo
  19. On mine the junction box is screwed to the back of the last wooden cross member, just above the tow bar, and it is the bigger 4 way junction box, i have no holes in my chassis for the dif light switch or junction box. I guess the junction box was moved to the chassis when it was changed for the smaller one, there it is more exposed so maybe why it has a cover? Anyone ever seen a cover for one? In the parts list i have it says the live goes to the starter switch, but it doesn't say for the neutral, on yours does this go to the starter mounting bolt? Then an earth strap from the engine nount to the chassis? But what earths the bulkhead? Regards John
  20. Hello pete, yes that is right, thinking about it the headlamps are wired in the same manner, the main loom goes to a junction box then either two or one wire to the lamps. I am correct all mw's were wired this way, the parts list states, Chassis number- 1001-39692, Box 4 way junction, rear cross member, part number. Lucas 770069 Chassis number 39693- , Box 2 way junction, rear cross member, part number. Lucas 770028 including: COVER.2-way junction box MT4/lu/770033 Regards John
  21. Hello Richard, I have a new loom in my bedford. By the looks of it it is similar to yours. I did not fit mine, yet, i've taken it out as part of the restoration, so will be putting it back in, in the next few months. Regarding the rear lights, the wiring in mine, does not go straight to the rear lights. From the front it runs down the chassis to a junction box on the back of the bottom crossmember of the body, then from there to the rear lights, two sets of wires come from the box instead of one. Here's a picture of mine when i got it, there are to many wires as it had a caravan hitch on it when i got it, I think these junction boxes are a standard fittment on mw's, i'd have to check my books to be sure. Also some mw's were fitted with a socket for trailer lights, this would also come from this junction box. Does your new loom have the wire for the dif light on? Maybe you can help answer some question i have? Can you take some pictures of the live and neutral wires from the battery to show how they run and where to, i'm pretty certain the live goes straight to the starter, but i'm not sure where the neutral should go. Where are the other earth straps fitted to complete the curcuit? Engine to chassis? and the chassis to the bulkhead? and is there an earth strap to the front panel? Or any others? I did also be grateful of some pictures of where you loom runs, just for a referance with your being an original one. Thanks John Thanks
  22. Hello Tony, not all the tools in the tool kit would have had the date and crows foot on. Only the standard WD spanners would have, the specialist tool from bedford in the kit had "Vauxhall bedford war finish" and the tool number stamped on. The curly wheel brace looks like the standard one shown in the drivers handbook, is there anything stamped on it? The hammer and adjustable spanner are definatley not original. Regards Rippo
  23. Hello smithy, Yes thats the one. regards rippo
  24. Yes it would have been that style of tank but the shorter version, the one shown looks like an oy water tank. regards Rippo
  25. Hello, Your mw was made in 1942, there should be some letters in front of the number, MWD or MWC, what was it? The cab and the engine look fairly complete and original, not sure what the petrol dip stick is from, to long for an MW, to many increments for an oy and i'm prety sure a QL one has a square bottom. In the picture of the cab, there is a small hand lever on the passenger side, what does that do? I think thats the handle to engage the pto for the pumps on a water bowser, that would tie in with the rear mudguards and the back of the cab. Does it have a hand throtle? Regards John
