  1. I think that the rules and regs as laid down by the tank museum are their's and their's alone, we can all judge at to where we go if we do not agree with some things. Living history can be very hard to get right in a lot of peoples eyes, be it lack of "real equipment" and the cost of sourcing this, so a compromise has to be made me thinks, and good luck to them all.

I think that having a general discussion on the merits of this thread is good and should be in the same vein as all discussions we have here on the forum, hats off to the people for disclosing the information, I think we need to therefore cool down and continue the thread before things get personal.

At the moment there are some good views and bad views, but that is life and everyone to their own (as they say)

  2. Many of the police cars in this area have a system which alternates left and right high beam. At night on an unlit country road it is totally blinding even when I am sat 10ft up, while I struggle to understand how it can be legal as at any time the vehicle has only one headlamp working.

I think if you look closely that as one of the light dims then the other becomes bright, therefore both lights are technically on at the same time.

Correct me if I am wrong though

  3. A few of the people on here have in their collection emergency or military police vehicles, so I would ask a question of them and anyone else who may know the law.

Do you travel on public roads with the emergency (Blue) lights attached to your vehicle, whether they are working or not and is there a law for/against this.

    Answer away please.

  4. Does anyone think that fly pasts are a waste of resources?

If you take into consideration the expense that is involved and the fact that H&S makes it that it can't fly over you. Also it is only with you for a matter of minutes.

Or is it worth every penny to see and hear a WW11 war bird?

Cannot see what you are saying here Jack??? how can it be a waste of money when so many people enjoy the past going about it's business above them, as said in a previous post "much better to be flying than gathering dust in a museum" Cost!!!! to the the BBMF yes it does, at the Military Mayhem show this year we have a Spitfire fly past from the BBMF, and it costs nothing but a few forms to fill in etc, we the tax payer ultimately pay I assume but the question "is it worth it" YES.

  5. Some year back whist over in Germany and friend of mine was staying with his girlfriend off camp and answered a knock at the door to confronted with a German Luftwaffa officer, this chap spoke in German of course asking for donations, My mates German was not to good but asked what the donation was for, the officer on realising he was British said it was not a problem and went to leave. My mate pressed him to find that he was collecting for the German Luftwaffa vets. My mate said this was not a problem and put his hand in his pocket. this seemed to supprose said German my Friend explained that he felt that the men who fight the wars are the same teh world over and respected there courage. Pity we cant all look at it that way.

There are still a lot of bigots around the world who cannot forget from 65 years ago, I know it is easy to say "cos I was not involved" but it is still there.

Most of them were the same.
