  1. What's the date of this EMPS, please Clive? The No. 4, Mk. 1 dates back to 1954 - so where else might the WW2 cooker trailer be listed? I've emailed a few museums. I'm presuming that the Dinky Cooker trailer is fuelled by the 4 outlet Hydra tank
  2. Has anyone heard of the No. 1 Hydra burner having been invented for the farmers to heat pigs swill? I'm told that there was an advert in a pre WW2 farming magazine, if anyone has that?
  3. I forgot about these. In 1937 Dinky released some Royal Tank Corps tank sets, which included a Cooker trailer.
  4. "Borrowed" this off the CCS forum. The Hydra No. 1 Type "F", which I think is for the No. 4, Mk. 1 petrol powered Cooking trailer. Which I guess was originally just called the Cookers, Trailer, Hydra Type in 1939. Must be some photos somewhere of the British 1940s cooking trailer
  5. @Davey War Years Do you still have pictures of the Little corporal, please. I can't see it on the website
  6. This 1944 letter suggests that the No. 2, Mk. 3 was about by 1944. The No. 2, Mk. 2 is in the 1939 VAOS.
  7. Interesting that this letter for the Canadians talks about No. 2, Mk. III, rather than the "Modified" for the leaded petrol. The only other Didcot, is apparently a small settlement of around 60 people in Australia.
  8. Thanks Clive. I get the impression that Nos. 1, 2 and 3 all possibly came into service around the same time, just before WW2. They're all listed in the 1939 VAOS. I wonder what year the VAOS was before the 1939 edition? What's the date of that EMPS, and what is EMPS? Sorry Interesting that the No. 1s were still in service into the 90s. I wonder how many No 4 trailers were sat in war reserve. We had No 1 burners in Germany in the 80s And when did the trailers become the Number 4 - clearly after 1939?
  9. Back to bed with you then, Wally. Get some sleep
  10. Fully agree with the patent comment Wally. But isn't the first number the data that it was accepted or approved, with the second number (the date of which is covered up in this example) being when it was submitted. The No. 2 Mk 2 (with the built in sliding tank) appears in the 1939 manual, so that amendment must have been fairly swift. Thanks for confirming the start date of 6/v/13891. How would I find the contract or nsn for any cooking trailer before 6/v/13891, or should I try an FOI
  11. Would I be right in thinking that the patent date is a good way of showing when items were made from when it comes to stoves? As in this No.2 was made from 1937? @Rangie Or does that not follow.
  12. I've applied for that, following your earlier suggestion. Already joined an ACC group. Had a look on MERLIN. This is just an example, but has some dates to give a rough guide to service periods. So is 69 BN 70 a No. 4 Mark 1 trailer?
  13. No, this big rectangular thing is the Number 4, isn't it?
  14. DATES INTO SERVICE ? Does anyone know the dates into service for the Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 trailer? Just reading the Vocabulary of Army Ordnance Stores 1939 section J2, which lists the No 1 Hydra, the No 2, and the No 3 with oven. And it also mentions the Cookers, Trailer, Hydra type And if they had the No 2 in 1939, then why buy the dodgy Hurlock in 43?
  15. I think the photo of Number 4 mislead me a bit. Hadn't realised that the chimney is all part of one main chimney
  16. Yes. I'm going to throw all the images I tidied up from the 1962 book in the bin, and start again. I've de-skewed the 62 Appendix last night
  17. It's probably better than the versions I have. The 1962 one has lost all the detail on things, like threads etc.
  18. This is the 1945 copy And the 1962 copy. You can probably tell from the quality as to who was selling this one Are the images in your small book better than this, please, Clive?
  19. I don't have a front cover, but I guess it is - but from a different suspect manual supplier. There is also a 1945 version.
  20. Sorry, Clive Do you have an earlier version of this document? If so, what are the instructions for Stripping, cleaning and re-assembly of the No. 1? Thanks
  21. Alec, would you happen to have a better page 12 please?
  22. Hi Clive, This doesn't have a front cover, and no document number on the pages either. It's for COOKERS, PORTABLE No. 1, BURNER UNIT S.B. TYPE "F" COOKERS, PORTABLE No. 2, Mk. 2 and No. 3, Mk. 3 I don't know what AESPs are listed for all the cookers. I have parts of 7360-J-100-XXX for the No. 4 Mk 2 7360-G-100-XXX for the No. 5 7310-B-100=XXX for the No. 12 And still no idea what No. 8 to 11 are, if they ever existed
  23. Wondering if anyone has a better page 12 of the No. 1 burner manual, please. The copy I have was scanned badly, and the page is creased. Have issues with points 4 (a) and (b) Thanks
  24. WOW. How does that work, wood burner?
