    FWD in scrapyard

Hiya Ben, my dad (Colin) made his maiden voyage with his FWD today! A great day for it, apart from the wind blowing right through the cab! Still a hundred-and-one 'little bits' to do here and there, he says, but its roadworthy at last! Karen Smith
  2. Hello Folks, For those of us who has an imagination, can you tell me what this trailer is/ for?? It's situated on the road to Edzell and has been here for some time. Thank you
  3. [h=1]Break-in at Great Dorset Steam Fair warehouse[/h] http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-15796341?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed Equipment used by the Great Dorset Steam Fair has been stolen from a warehouse. Police said offenders broke into locked shipping containers in the warehouse at Tarrant Hinton near Blandford sometime during the first two weeks of November. Equipment worth about £120,000 was taken, including iron fence stakes, brass taps and steel cabling. Police said they were keen to hear from scrap dealers or anyone offered items for an unusually low price. The five-day steam fair takes place in Tarrant Hinton each August and attracts about 250,000 visitors. ++++++ Scumbags, the lot of them!! Edit: Apologies to the Mods if this has been posted in the wrong department x

    FWD in scrapyard

:-) Hiya Ben, yea dad's making great progress with it - he's almost completed the body on his FWD now. He's always working away on it when he has a spare moment - can't get him away from it lol! Will add photos when I can get my hands on them x

    FWD in scrapyard

Was out in Perth this morning trying to track it down to its current location - its still in once piece and been 'set aside' by the scrap merchant for the meantime since a number of people are taking an interest in it. It's down by the industrial estate by the harbour, right behind the prison. :-) Given a chance, my dad would love to get his hands on parts of this FWD for his own he is currently restoring :-)

    FWD in scrapyard

Yea we know what scrapyard its in and I've heard it has been put to one side at the moment. I hear that scrap per tonne is going at a good price at the moment...perhaps why they guy that had the FWD has decided to flog it
  8. I feel so sad to hear that this FWD HAR snowblower is in a scrapyard in Perth now. It has been sat in Aberfeldy for god knows how long under a hedge, and it was only just over a month ago that my boyfriend and I went to see if it was still there. I'm upset that the guy who owns this vehicle has decided to scrap it, instead of asking my dad about it (my dad has an FWD HAR 1 and they have been in contact in the past.) This would have made a great restoration project, or great for salvaging bits off it for his own vehicle. What makes it more sad is that the FWD is rare (this is only snowblower type that I know of in Britian) with only two other known FWD HAR 1's in the country. (Ben Rippingham and my dads) There are a few more shots here of the inside and whatnot http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.221453024536712.82301.100000160473802&l=f5d9ff96c6 I feel sad at hearing this news
  9. My other half dutifully informed me of this in a local scrapyard in Forfar today...so sad
  10. Puffs boyfriend here ex RAF gripper of the leckie sort. Was called out one night to a ground power unit that had sheared the water pump shaft and thrown the fan through the radiator. Was asked if it would do it again. Replied "well not that one anyway". Not related but while crewing a steam roller the MOP was heard to say I wondered how you took the front roll out to clean the boiler tubes! Was also asked to roll some muddy grass on a rally site before the tractors were going to go across it. What are tractors for again?
  11. Thanks for the mention - I was tempted to post it on here myself. Was a good turn out today I think, I enjoyed it anyway!
  12. Thank you all for your answers - I was just curious and wondered why thats all :-)
  13. I understand that, but why are some vehicles painted in a camouflage scheme and some are simply green? Gawd, this must be a really daft question if no one has gotten back lol :???
  14. Morning folks, I have a question that has been nagging me since last night - Why are some MV's painted in camouflage and some are simply green?
  15. class! Thanks for that, its made me laugh
  16. Puff has passed me her computer and I will tell you all about the RAF in Benbecula & the Uists. I was based at the Remote Radar Head, RRH Benbecula from Feb 2001 to Feb 04. The Radar head is on the top of a 436 ft hill called South Cletraval on North Uist. It is a site shared with Qinetiq. We were living in the Qinetiq/ old Royal Artillery camp at Balivanich on the Isle of Benbecula. The old RAF Benbecula Reporting Centre was along from the airport, the big concrete block house, this was sold off shortly after I left the Hebrides. The airport is the original WWII RAF Benbecula. As far as I know the RRH is still there and hasn't been contractorised as of yet. We did work there from 8-5 Monday to Friday or I was wasting my time for 3 years
  17. thanks for the great photos Adam - I couldn't make it last year (09) but my dad did with the C15 TA and my uncle with his dodge too. Looking at the photos, I've kinda missed out on the fun haven't I lol. Usual weather I suspect too. :-D
  18. Nice site...BUT...my boyfriend (who was in the RAF) says the info on there is pants! Its worng and outdated and RRH Benbecula is actually on North Uist - and he should know becasue he worked there for 3 years! Oh well..
  19. My fella used to be based at RAF Buchan on 1 of the mobile radar convoys and there were 2 TM's with both winch and crane. 1 asigned to each of the convoys. Later replaced by horrible Renaults with the same fittings. Think that they are getting sold off by Withams as well now!
  20. Hey guys, I don't know about anyone else, but I much prefer the old syle layout of the forum. I suppose because I was more used to it as well, but I found it easier to use, and the colours of the forum was much better and easier on the eyes. Also, one of my personal favourites about the old layout was that when I scrolled down to the bottom, you could easily see recent posts, whos online all at a glance and also look at ramdom photos from members galleries (which got me into looking at more photos from there on!) Just wanted to share my opinion! :red:
  21. Steve, sounds like something my dad would like! He's lurking on here somewhere too.
  22. Good shots taken there Croc -where was this?
  23. Hello there! Glad you can make it to the board. I'm sure you will find this place useful and interesting and I think you already know a couple of people on here already. Have a nice stay, don't be a stranger! Puff xxx
