  1. i am not looking forward to lineing up the engine up again:noyay: . how did u go about yours ? my rear engine mounts are fine its only the front one which has fell to bits . but i have been told to fit them as a set . i did think of the propshaft mod to eliminate the problem of engine alignment and metalastic couplings .
  2. :rofl::rofl::rofl:I BLOODY Wish i now have the heads on and torqued down. inlet manifold is back on injectors also. both sumps have been off cleaned and refitted . i am now waiting on exhaust manifold to be machined . bolts and gaskets for the rocker box and new engine mounts which are being made on the 22nd of this month. still a long way to go i should think u will be up and running befor me. nick

  4. these two engines are both running on modern oils 15w40 from memory and both seem to run fine on it as is my scammell .
  5. if the situation gets that bad andy i will pm u , i dont think it should. the only problem with getting one is that it is a bank holiday and CBH fasters dont open again till bloody tuesday :argh:
  6. yes andy just pulling your leg .was the only safe way we could think off getting the heads back on with out injury to ourselves or damage to the heads . on another note me and floyd shall be open for viewing to to the public tomorow at the resonable price of 1 1/2 inch bsf head nut per person :-\ that should solve that problem of the stripped nut :-D
  7. hi all today the flow of parts into the garage has now been reversed. parts are now flowing back to where they belong . heads are now back on .all went well with only a minor problem with a stripped head nut no major crises. i am hopeing to find one tomorow . also we have has a visit from the health and safty executive he started quoting working at hight regulations so oldgun came up with a solition . pics are as follows .
  8. soon as i get the mass a parts in the garage back under the bonnet where they belong .but untill i get over the cold from hell not much progress is goingto be made . i am rearly looking forward to joining in the fun and games :-D

  10. it looks shiney because i am crap at painting and polishing is easier :-D the machining marks are viseible the head was skimed useing a fly cutter but the machining marks give the copper gasket something to grip too

  13. hi all just so u guys dont think i have done a runner, quick progress report heads. have been skimmed as advised my some one more in the know than me. valves have been lapped in and re fitted allso have made the 6 spacers needed for the head torque plan and the 6 copper washers for the injectors i decided to make these as it was quicker than trying to find some the rite size. both heads just need a little paint and they are done . engine mounts have been found in the robush catalog other things i have decided not too paint the rocker covers rocker box and inlet manifold as they are aluminium so i will give them a gd polish and hope they come up well . progress is slow but i am getting there . will get u all some pics soon nick

  15. yes tom i do have wot looks to be a T bar but it is referd to as the towing pole for some reason in the manual
  16. next time i have the sheets off the back off mine gps i will take some pics of the recovery gear mine has on the back from memory mine has 1 draw bar 1 towing ploe 1 long A frame 1 short A frame and a towing distance A frame along with two wire ropes for the ground anchors .
  17. gents i am in need of some engine mounts i have the robush catalogue infront of me i just need to know what the sizes they are :confused: my front mount on the engine is to badly worn to get an acurate size from can eny one help :sweat:

  19. ive checked round the back off the block allready there was that much oil in that area i doubt it would ever rust . i did think of posting it in the index but i thought i would post it here first . i can email it u if u want bernard .

Hi all i have removed the valves from the heads all are ok no carbon build up out of the ordinairy also have cleaned the head with diesel and checked the heads with a straight edge and a feeler gauge both are flat as the day they went on i am now in search of more parts i have the main gaskets head caskets and rocker box gaskets and rocker cover gaskets . i also have the rubber o rings for the water jacket and valve seals . the parts i dont have are inlet and exhaust gaskets which i am goin to have to make my self . the other parts i am in need off are engine mounts ! when i took the weight off the front engine mount with the jack the front mount prity much fell apart :shake: i shall attempt to clean the block tomorrow when ive finished playing trains in london .
