  1. The Medway Field is found down a track that leads off Monktons Field and this track goes through some woods that then opens up in to the largest of all fields far bigger than all of the other fields and trade stand areas put together. To me its like having a game of football in the changing room and ignoring the pitch! Where I was parked in Medway near the missing toilet (on the map) I'd need binoculars to see the opposite corner!
  2. There must be something else we can discuss concerning WPR, without moaning too much. How about making the Medway Field the centre of the show for vehicles and green camping and have a very large arena. Also let the re-enactors have a bit more space in Medway around the edges so as not to be one group on top of another?
  3. If a Land Rover parts supplier comes to WPR they would have to pay for a pitch, so it cannot be the reason for the tat! I thought the idea was to make a profit. Perhaps there weren't enough Land Rovers at WPR! BTW - how did they get on with the proposed 50 Lwts in Medway on Friday afternoon? Sadly I had to leave in my Lwt early on Friday due to ilheath of my friend
  4. Talking of the stalls why is it that such well known experts in the field of Land Rovers can set up at WPR and sell such tat; ie parts that go beyond the word second hand (ie rusting, broken or unusable) mostly taken from scrapped vehicles and charge prices as if the part was fit for purpose - whereas Jeep Parts had a well set out trailer and stand selling 'cared for' replacement parts?
  5. Incidentally, I did not pre-book this year and turned up and paid to enter my MV - however I was surprised that no details of it were required at all, not even the make and registration nor any questions such which is your vehicle then mate? Often it's the opposite thats true of MV shows - you are not allowed entry without having Insurance and MOT to hand and sometimes the V5!
  6. Fred, you may remember a few years back that a TV program like Panorama came to W&P in the hope of showing up all British reenactors of German units as racist but failed!
  7. I also agree with the comments above concerning booking in! I arrived before 8am and had to park up and wait for the booking desk and the gates to open. Fair enough but when I got to the booking procedure every vehicle had to park in lanes, and owners were not allowed to get a pass until their vehicle was at the front of their lane, so I was constantly starting up my MV and moving forward a few feet. It would have been much better if we could have the booking desk in the big field where we were held before 8am, park anywhere and as individuals join a queue of people to get our passes, which would be fairer, as vehicles that came later than most of us, were able to rush the gate at 08.01 am and get in to the three lanes for booking before me.
  8. I was parked up in Medway field not far from where the toilets were marked up on the map - except there were no toilets there. While it is true that most of the portaloo public toilets were disgusting, I don't get too hung up about toilets if I have and old plastic milk bottle and bucket in my tent for emergency use. I can ruff it a bit as I used to be in the Army in 1970-80's and we did what bears do. As for the show there were a few new vehicles I have not seen before but somehow the how has lost something of its soul. Vehicle numbers are certainly down on the old days and there was not enough heavy armour. The show ground use also seems a bit odd in that Medway field is massive and yet hardly used in comparison to Monkton's, and had vehicles spread all round the edges far in to the distance which I guess no 'normal' visitor ever got round in a day. Okay, I know Medway was marked out as a Helipad and area for parachutists but surely if it was suitably set out with toilet facilities and green camping minus support vehicles during the show open hours, it would be better display area. I happen to think that the reenactors stuffed in behind the current arena lose their appeal, so would be better being well spaced round Medway field! Incidentally were kids on motor bikes and quad bikes supposed to be banned? And with the weather so warm and grass so dry was it a good idea to have wood fires at WPR?
  9. I had a look at the WPR web page but could not find the MV booking in opening times. Does anyone know for sure?
  10. So is anyone on site now who can give a visual estimation of those who have arrived so far. I can only get down for 8am on Wednesday but I guess most of the stuff that gets trailered in will be there already?.
  11. At its height how many MVs turned up at W&P for the show before it became WPR / moved to Folkstone & back to Beltring etc?
  12. I have not been to WPR four about 3 or 4 years at either location but I have decided to give it a go this year and may bring my own toilet - a small chemical one is quite cheap. Plus also the WPR team did say that I can book in a and pay on the day which is good if you are rushing to complete your MV project in time but are unsure if it will be ready and potentially waste £35 for a 'no show'.
  13. Does anyone know if it is possible to arrive without pre-booking and pay on entry for an MV and two persons.
  14. I'd rather not pre-book and pay later, because they might be really upset if there is one less Lightweight Landrover at the show if I don't turn up! Lwts are getting rarer now (well ones that have not been restored all out of all recognision!)
  15. Also does anyone know if it is possible to arrive without pre-booking and pay on entry for an MV and two persons. Sadly my friend may be in hospital in which case I won't go.
  16. I think I will subscribe then just to see how bad it has got. Perhaps they need a webster and a marketing manager
  17. You really should be able to unsubscribe, as GDPR directive from the EU applies to all, even clubs and societies with a minimum mumber of members and whether or not the organisation is registered with the ICO. So send them a note if there is no Unsubscribe button, and mention the ICO
  18. If thats true then, all the small tracked armour of Uninversal Carrier size won't be turning up?
  19. In 2020 my Lwt will be 40 years old but does the MOT and Road Tax exemption relate to when the vehicle was built or first registered for the road as a civi vehicle? Hopefully not the latter as the Army had it till January 1991 but it was built circa November 2020
  20. Might it be that forums are dying out as everyone ends up on Facebore which I don't subcribe to.
  21. I have ordered the same weather for this year!
  22. I was wondering if it was possibly reference to a converted Priest SP without the 75mm gun or a Canadian RAM. It sort of gets mentioned in the context of them travelling along with the tanks and I wonder if a 3 tonner might be a bit too vulnerable up the sharp end. Hopefully someone might know if 11th Armd Div used converted Priest or RAMs
  23. I'm currently reading the book The Black Bull by Patrick Delaforce about the 11th Armd Div in NW Europe in 1944-45. While the book mentions Sherman and Cromwell tanks, Jeeps, Armoured Cars, Carriers, and Halftracks etc it also mentions the use of TCV vehicles. What was a TCV?
  24. Thanks Nick, I do hope it is as relaxed as you say and that it grows back to what it ised to be when at Beltring!
  25. I have not booked yet for WPR but I could not see much in the way of terms and conditions on the WPR webpage. In particular I'm looking for details of wether the organisers still have the attitude that if you can't come for the whole week don't come! Sadly I have a family event on the last day - 28th - so may need to come home on Friday night. As some of you may be aware not everyone in the household appreciates MV's Lastly there seems a lack of posts in this part of HMVF so is there a feeing that many MV owners won't attend?
