Hi All. Just a quick message to say hello and introduce myself. After many years of considering the acquisition of a military vehicle and wanting something armoured and street legal, I have recently purchased MK2/3 Ferret, 00DC75. Needs some work but is all there and running. Look forward to the adventure ahead and sharing stories. Served in the Canadian Navy back in the mid 80's...Mar Eng Tech (Stoker).

Welcome to the site Terry.......I am in the USA...My 1954 Canadian Ferret MK1 is very close to Chicago where I have to visit for a few months out of the year....IF ever down my way south west of Chicago let me know..Mine isn't much to look at like most on here but I am proud of finally getting a historic military vehicle in my old years...Wish I had the paper work like you do...Anyway keep up the posts and the pictures and a big welcome again....

Wonder if a person could remove all 4 tires and let bottom of chassis sit on wood beams as low as possible to allow critical distance from top to ceiling....

Good for you Florida............What a great ending.....Guess that original supervisor never seen a cement truck...Much more intimidating than a Ferret.....

Very nice...Enjoy.............

I better clarify as the cork gaskets I used to work on years ago we used the Permatex..It comes in different grades now like for a water pump...I remember the big secret of success in using it was to put it on the cork gasket and let it cure a minimum of 45 minutes before clamping together.....Diana & Jacki are great mechanics IMO and I have never worked on the bevel boxes....I am only going off information that worked for me on other projects....Permatex has been out for about 40 years now....Cork gaskets are old school and maybe Diana & Jackie can add some information as they experiment with better modern age O-rings and such....I certainly highly value their posts and opinions....Hope this helps some one....

Ok......

How about using a gasket sealer.....In the States we use Permatex on most cork gaskets...Hope this helps....The Cork oil seal was replaced on the nearside rear bevel box and it still leaks, I am toying with the idea of using two O rings - has anyone got any thoughts on this? or should I replace it with a new cork seal and stick to the original design?Diana

You have to ask yourself what will fit the best where you are..I bought my Ferret MK1 because of my budget but especially the small size of it which I can drive on the side of my house and into my shop in the backyard.....

When you guys do the bevel boxes the manual says the vehicle in level position the suspension units should be in a relaxed sate.......This to me means to jack up the Ferret and let the 4 housings hang loosely not touching the ground,,,Is this what you do or do you just leave tires on ground and not let the suspension system hang freely.
