  1. Hi Bob, can I just clarify if it's the Saladin pamphlet or the Alvis booklet you would like scanned? Steve.
  2. Hello Richard. I have promised the book to Shane, as he got in first, but I will scan the pages and put them on a disc first, so once that's done I will get back to you about delivery. To be honest, it is not very technical and may not be much use in a rebuild. It's really only D & M level info, but I'm sure it will be worth looking at. Will try to get it done before Christmas. Steve.
  3. Hi Shane, I've not done a PM yet, so it may take a while, but as you are first in, it is yours. Steve.
  4. I made a bad start with this yesterday, so on good advice I will try again. I have a UHB (WO Code 18406) for the Scammell Recovery and GS Tractor. I don't want anything for it apart from finding it a good home. If anyone would like it, just let me know. Steve.
  5. Hello again Clive. You are probably right, although there have been a lot of views. I think I was probably not approaching it in a sensible way. I shall try again as you suggest. PS: Your books are on their way. Who knows, they may even arrive before Christmas. PPS: I have found a small (a little larger than A6) paperback booklet (no code number) issued by MoD for use by staff in procurement and the like. It is titled Legal Awareness Watch Your Language. This one is 2nd Edition Sep 1991. A bit obscure, but any use to you? Steve.
  6. Hi all, Clearing out my bookshelf and found a 1968 RAF pamphlet (76 pages, a bit bigger than A5), titled Servicing Hints and Information on Common Defects of Alvis Fire Crash Tenders. Any use to anyone? No money required, just a good home for the publication. Steve.
  7. Hi Sallidan, I have an Alvis glossy promotional booklet, 18 leaves (a bit bigger than A4 size), which covers Saladin, Saracen and Stalwart. It has a part-cutaway showing Saladin crew and some ammo stowage. Any use to you? postage only asked. Steve.
  8. Obviously that was a non-starter; I wondered what the reaction might be. In which case, who wants it? Steve.
  9. No money required, but where do I send them? I missed out in 1972. Posted to 18 Sqn RCT in Fremington (DUKWs), but they were transferred to NI before I joined them! Steve.
  10. Hi all, I have UHB for the Scammell 6x6 Recovery and GS Tractor. Good condition apart from a small stain on the cover. No money asked (apart from postage), but I would like it to go to a good home. As I'm new and don't know anyone, can I ask you readers to suggest who deserves it? Steve.
  11. Sorry, I posted twice, as the first didn't appear instantly. I must learn patience. Steve.
  12. Hi Clive, I see you are looking for pubs and I have a two-volume report on REME during WW2, published by the War Office in 1951. Any good to you? Steve.
  13. Hi all, I'm new to the forum and just thought I'd post a few pictures which I have in my (very small) collection, which few people will have seen. If this one looks slightly unreal, it has been retouched for use in a publication. Sorry about the end of the muzzle going missing, but it's a tad too long for my scanner. I have one or two other artillery/MG photos which I will scan and post soon. Steve.
  14. Hi all, this is a follow on of the ones posted under 'Is this the right place for these pictures', so if these interest you, those may too. Steve.
  15. These (plus a few more to follow) were taken at ATTURM in Instow. I know because some have their stamp on the back. No idea when exactly, as I picked the photos up during the reorganisation and moving of the REME publications organisations from Woolwich some years ago. I will post the others in a new thread, with a title that might attract a larger audience. Steve.
  16. As this is my first serious post I'm not sure where I should best post pictures such as the attached. I have a few more in similar vein, so if they should go elsewhere, can someone please tell me - in the nicest possible way of course.
  17. Just a thank you for the welcoming replies. I don't have time to pull up a box right now, but will try to get back in a few hours. Once I get the hang I will post some photographs I acquired a couple of years ago, of vehicles on wading trials, which should be of interest. I hope you can catch them before too long. Steve.
  18. As a new boy I missed the postings yesterday, but felt it should be pointed out that the fascine tanks were updated from the usage in the first world war, so not really a Hobart invention. As pointed out though, it was him who brought it all together, so good for him. Steve.
  19. Hi everyone, I'm a brand new member, so I'd like to say hello to you all out there. I found this forum by chance yesterday and I'm not sure yet if I will be of much use to it, but being an ex-REME VM, I hope I have some experiences and perhaps a few pictures and anecdotes of interest. Best regards to all, Steve.
