  1. They are there!! The unqualified farmer said so, it's just the nasty Myanmar officials won't let him dig up their only international airport's only runway- so it's all their fault he has only found an empty box that may or may not be wartime.

Am I alone in a secret desire to partly bury a box for a model spitfire in the sand, photograph it and announce it as proof? :-D

  2. Here are some things that come to mind.

Are you absolutely sure that the cam timing is right?

I see you have replaced many of the components (haven't we all been there...), but are you sure that the ignition is receiving a consistent supply?

Which plug leads do not produce a consistent flash on your timing light? Some? All? Have you pulled the plug leads off and tested to see you can get a consistent spark to jump to a head stud?

These things are darn frustrating, because you cannot see the fault...

  3. Menu 17 has an Oatmeal Block, not sure which other menus have them, I only have a list for menus 11-20. Here are some photos of 2/3rds of my Oatmeal Blocks, the other tin is in my truck and available for viewing at Wicksteed at War this weekend, look for the West Wilts MVT banner

Hot damn, it has been nearly 40 years, I can almost smell them thru the screen...

  4. Well, I don't particularly believe in having ex-military hand weapons around, but I don't see why my opinion should be the only one. More to the point, rather than sitting around blaming someone else or looking to find shoulders to cry on, I like to do something about the imposition of any unnecessary restriction of freedom or poorly thought through regulations. So I signed.

I just need to help find another 175,000 other people now ;)

Less whine, more wine, I always say!

  5. Hi

You are correct in the context of electrolysis the soda is there to promote electrolysis. But in the process look at ways to improve the rust removal I tried Heating the Water and in the process discovered that Washing Soda will also remove OD paint quiet nicely.

I took a strong solution of washing soda and water in a pot filled with small parts and heated it in electric pot to 180-212 F let it cook for 1/2hour and then pressure washed them with 180F water and the paint all came off. Great way to process bolts small parts.

    Cheers Phil

And maybe a rotating tub to ensure everything gets cleaned and the solution does not stagnate, and perhaps a built in pump and filter...? :D

  6. Rather than complain, rather than pretend that EU people are different people from us, why not do the simple thing and follow the due process of EU law complaints? Finding that kind of stuff is what Google and similar are for. Following that route is partly what being a citizen is about.

I would do it myself, but these days I find firearms only mildly interesting; however I would sign an EU e-petition thingy if someone arranged one.

  7. Well, since you do not appear to be in Poland I _should_ be safe ;)

To be honest, I would not play around with a weapon like this without the assistance of an explosives expert and certainly not be close to it when it was lit. I hope you are considering a remote form of trigger, and somewhere to hide in case it is not just a plain vanilla type, or if it gets frisky, or if it simply decides not to remain where you put it. A drone might be useful to video the result (worst comes to worst, at least the news team will have some interesting material to show us ;)

  8. they are down one side . they bulge out on the inside and are about 6 to 8 mm . Its my son who thinks they are bullet holes . I am not so sure .

Well, I am no specialist on bullet holes, but they kind of do resemble genuine bullet impact holes I have seen on buildings here in Poland. Still, could be a good talking point at shows!

  9. Was that 25pdr. manufactured by G & J Weir? My 25pdr. is number 288 from them but the plate says G & J Weir not G & J W. Number 12510. The Australian War Memorial has G & J Weir Number 504.

    Regards Rick.

I read somewhere that part way through the war they changed the way manufacturers' names should be written on data plates on all equipment so that the enemy did not effectively have an address to bomb. In which case a change to G & J W sounds reasonable.
