  2. As you suggest any local purchased vehicles and used by BRITISH MILITARY were given a ERM from those in the X  series l have seen pictures of german built buses with  X numbers used by british forces. I to have still guide books from the museum as a side once had a whale of a time with a BRIXMAS G WAGEN great tool

  3.  That is interesting yes the X prefix  series on vehicle numbers were funded by the  FRG for use by the british military in GERMANY but as ever there is the anomaly take the ZB series in among the ones that served in Germany some never saw service there.  THE GPA is one type that appears in the in the ZB series  but records show that some never left the UK

  4. This subject has been the talked about for years in the my early days l collected swatches of paints from a number of uk paint manufacturers who made paints for the war department   from the early 1900's one thing is very  clear they all differed  in the finish colour some lighter and some darker but all with the corresponding  BSC prefix. l could go on but the subject only cause's only more disputes those who think one thing is right  and other's who disagree There are a number of official documents on wartime paints covering painting of WW2 vehicles both from the commonwealth the USA and those made in the  UK some contain reference to instructions which contradict  often held  belief's

  5. BRYAN  l know the problems first hand as for a number of years it was my job to look after it. The blackburn beverley  group of volunteers most of them ex blackburn aircraft workers and staff did a excellent  job of looking after it sadly most are no longer with us' Yes it is a black hole were money is concerned yes a hanger would be the answer and a fund was raised for its up keep my question is were is that money?

  11. you are   correct the RLC do not hold   government department civilian registered  vehicle  records  you may be lucky that the civilian ERM appears in post war military vehicles sales catalogues those covering the period 1945= 1949

  12. To day has been  a day of waiting for deliveries so a chance to look for more on the FV400 series  it's strange that you read some thing in a book written by a  [expert] that you know to be wrong or read something else were l gave up years ago at trying to point out the mistakes because all you get is grief . The story of the FV400 is a case in question  the more l dig the more l am puzzled any way here is a bit of the story the trials  for suitable recovery trailer
