  2. Oh my gosh it would be AMAZINGLY fun in this weather!!! do it!! We went to the pensthorpe vintage event a few weeks later [see pic!] and a few shindigs in Norwich but we are eagerly awaiting our next outing. I've just bought myself an iconic old london black cab to do up, shes a beauty!! we are doing a 'carry on cabby' "glamcabs" theme, just deciding where to go! Kate and I are now working in the Steam Sheds at Weybourne voluntarily too, getting to play with some SERIOUSLY big machines! We where cleaning down the B12 [the big green loco being used at the 40s event] and its great being able to climb all over it and see what makes her tick! amazing! Whats the next event you guys will be heading too? Would be great to all meet up again! Best wishes too all of you! and get the truck outside! I want to see pics in the snow!!!!! :-D
  3. Brilliant Thread! Just spent FAR too long reading all the replies when I should definitely be asleep but everyone's so darn INTERESTING!! I write on here on behalf of 6 ladies that met some of you at the Sheringham 40s weekend but two of us work in the Steam loco sheds at the North Norfolk Railway [where the 40s weekend is held] because we LOVE big engineering Other than that, myself Im a flameworker and have my own glass melting studio just outside cromer, Kate works in the sheds with me [we only do every now and again though! not as much time to spare as we would like!] and also helps out on a local crab boat driving the beach tractors and ALSO works for the Norwich Festival, Lynne is a Deli Girl, Rachel works for the Mental Health Department, Smith is an estate agent [boooo! ] well, a 'Lettings Manager' and Chevvy is Head of Art at a high school A mixed bunch brought together with our love of vintage and vehicles! Like a mini version of you lot! Great to meet you all! xxx
  4. Hi guys! wasn't sure where to post this but just wondering if anyone ever posted the vid of the great train race from Sheringham station to Holt from the North Norfolk Railway 40's weekend last year? I've forgotten the tag for the kind gent that let us all hop on the truck and join in? Had a peek on youtube but couldn't find it. We would all love to see it, you guys made it the most memorable event for us so far!! Hope you are all having a great new year and we look forward to hopefully seeing you guys at 2013s events!! xxxx:yay::dancing::dancing::dancing:

[6th -7th October!] We are heading over on the Sunday and we wondered if we would bump into anyone from the holt/weyborne/sheringham event or get the chance to meet new people and see some more awesome machines HMVF member 'Tomwilliamsonuk' told us it is taking over from the ' Living History fair that took place at Mannington Hall the previous 2 years, so will hopefully be as good if not better! Heres the link too the event if anyone wants more info.... http://pensthorpe.com/events/2012/7/pensthorpes-1st-vintage-rally/ Hope too see you there!! :-D

[especially me!! ] Really hope we get the chance to bump into each other at some event or other! Someone mentioned to us on here that a few of you are heading to the 1st Pensthorpe vintage rally this year, will you be coming along? Apparently its replacing the usual Mannington hall one? Would be great to see your mighty machines! We are all planning on heading over there to check soak up the atmosphere and see whats happening too! Maybe I should do an 'upcoming event' thing on here too see if anyones coming, am I allowed to do that? :undecided: xxx
  13. Amazing! I bet you have some amazing stories! haha! Any pictures? Would love to hear about it! I had such an amazing time!
  14. Hi Lauren! Thats a big YES from me Boy do I WISH I had one, ANY of them! Speaking for myself Claire "Shorts" Hack I have a passion for all things with engines as long as the are old and/or big. I've also flown helicopters a couple of times and overtaken a Wherry on the norfolk broads with the local Mississippi Steamer... which is apparently not the done thing I've been lucky enough to go and help out in the steam railway sheds as their wrench monkey too for the engines [mainly because I'm short so they can send me into where they used to send the 14year old boys when they where first invented] and for me 30th this year [eek] me and the girls are heading to go and drive the trains! I LOVE anything that drives, floats or flys Im sure the other girls feel the same, we're trying to decide wether to club together and get something...we quite liked this one.... it was pink and green too, apparently to blend in with the particular type of pinky rock over the landscape it would have been stationed in....? What do you have?
  15. haha! ah, well we know who the historical rosie is, but no one told us their names at the day, apart from M5Clive saying he was 'M5Clive' we will have to make sure we get names at the next event
  16. None of us are Called Rosie! ...... We have a Lynne, a Kate, a Claire, a Rachel, a Rechenda and a Siobhan and a Sarah.... but no actual Rosie....... we're confused.... [shock! Its easily done!] :undecided:
  17. Hey, the keen photographer in our group lynne [the brunette with the head scarf] has just added some more of her pics that we thought you guys might like. Forgive me if any of these are not yours, it was quite difficult too see where one group finished and the other one started, unless the WHOLE of the run along the railway side of the field was you guys....? Hands up those who spot their machines, and we LOVE the pic Lynne got of Rosie.....
  18. Sounds great, where's that one? Lots of people recommended Pickering, and theres a small vintage rally event being held for the first time at Pensthorpe, fakenham, in october which we are heading too next heres the link if anyones nearby interested? Im not sure if there will be any military stuff there, but there should be! Its not as good without!
  19. woohoo!! hi! great to speak to you! hope you don't mind us joining you! xx btw, we are putting all of our pics with your vehicles in onto a group flickr account so you guys can all see them and save the ones you want onto your computers! there is a lovely one of you reading rosie! It would take ages to email the to everyone so I will post a link as soon as they are all on there! xxx :goodidea:
  20. Ah ha!! M5Clive! A MASSIVE thank you today for giving us the ride of our lives! we will be annoying people with tales of it for the rest of our LIVES! haha!! Are the lovely ladies and gents that where on the back of the truck with us in this group too? if so a big hi to them as well! Especially the lady who did an AMAZING job holding on to her camera! sterling effort!! I think one of your boys is already on youtube with us? check it out.... about 5.17 in.... Thanks again!! We kinda all want to club together and buy one now...... :-\
  21. Sorry us again! Just been sent this by a guy who used to work at the railway.... check out 5.17 in, one of you is famous with us!
  22. Great pictures after an amazing weekend!! It wouldn't have been half as good if you guys and gals hadn't been there so thank you! we have a load of pictures too if you would like them? I'm not sure who's vehicle is whos but if you want us to post them you can sort them out among yourselves? We made sure we asked one of you at least before we had any taken though, so you should all know, we hope we didn't put anyone nose out of joint, we have a huge respect for your passion! We've had people sending us copies, as well as ones from Weyborne station, but I think they where a different group from you guys? There are quite a few though....lol! do you guys have any sort of album for the event or anything, we're not very good at this forum malarkey! Any advice anyone? thanks! P.S, Where do I sign up! - from 'the Blonde' haha!
  23. Hi there, Our group of seven 1940s enthusiasts the 'Vintage Vixens' just wanted to say a BIG thank you for making our weekend at Holt/weyborne/sheringham 1940s weekend this year! Your vehicles where fantastic, and the time and energy you take to look after them admired by us all. I speak for every one of us when I say you have started a Truck Addiction in us all! We really hope we get the chance to bump into you all again over future events as we have decided to spread our collective wings and head too a few more. It really was the best weekend we have all had in a long time, and a large part of that is due to the friendly welcome we had from every one of you. Thanks so much again! toodle pip!
