Medium Repair Unit?
-
How's your fuel pump? What flow rate are you getting to the carbs?

Not today, but Thursday a convoy of desert coloured open cab'd Landrovers quite well modified.
They were east-bound on the A120 between Stansted and Gt Dunmow (maybe going to Carver Barracks?).
Quite interesting to see the different array of headgear and goggles being worn by the drivers and passengers. Drivers seemed to be wearing desert goggles and passenger motorcycle helmets.

Well I guess the British didn't get that message fully;the Cent mkIII I've been working on is BSF, BSP, and BA.
-
Fantastic mate, does it feel like you've turned a corner?
-
Well that certainly beats the chronicle's usual stories about ducks stealing watering cans and the like.....
-
Ray,
That was the thought, but a Pete said there are too many variables to say for certain.
I recon the best place to start with the head off is to check the head for damage, remove all the valves, check them and the seats, lap / re face if needed. Also would need to check piston ring gaps and cylinder bore wear.......

Definately beyond my skillset to repair :wow:
It was good to meet you yesterday, and I hope that you get some use out of it.
Fascinating piece of ket though...

I've got a couple of questions:
1. Is it off a running engine? If so how was the engine running?
2. Is the valve in question an exhaust or intake valve?
If the head was off a runner, and it's an exhaust valve, it may not have been seating properly and burnt out (the differantiation in colour showing up the heat damage).
Note: This is a wild stab in the dark.......
-
Could it be for the removal of engine core plugs?
-
Thank you for that,
Is it of any use or interest to anyone? As I got it for free I'd be happy to give it to a loving home (on the proviso that the home isn't eBay).

A front panel photo would have been a good idea wouldn't it, I don't know why I didn't. I'll take one on Tuesday.

Just got one for free.
Mains powered, with what seems to be an oscilloscope, and variable voltage selection.
Wondering if it's an old line tester.......

Mine has nothing to do with golf, but comes from another sport - cricket.
I'm a left arm seam bowler, reasonably quick (hit 70mph in me youth). At my last club one mate said to me after I took a wicket (a rare event) 'you don't half look like Andrew Caddick when you run in'.
Caddick got shortened to Caddy and it's stuck (well it's better than Big Bird - I'm 6'3").
Cricket came to a halt when I damaged my left shoulder (under repair - about as quick as a REME job!), and I needed somthing to do so I decided to volunteer at Duxford as I live about 30min away.
Will hopefully by playing again this year......

I think that Marcus Glenn might have some spares........

That looks like it was in the IWM's workshop yard, so would have thought it was either there to be restored or coming in....

Today northbound on M11 just before Harlow 5 Chally 2's and a bloody ugly thing with a bulldozer blade or earth moving bucket on the front of it!

An incredible aircraft...... Together with other projects the Nazi's were working on and were also way ahead of us with such as jets / super U Boats/ small arms etc , you have to realise we were exceptionally lucky the Allies prevailed....... It's just as well Hitler insisted on meddling & ultimately generally messing up a lot of their plans & weapons otherwise things could very easily have gone very differently ;(
Isn't there a school of thought that we were exceptionally lucky that the Germans kept on trying to develop these very complicated, time and material consuming projects. With the V2; if they had put all those resources into standard bombers then the amount of damage they could achieve would have so much more.......

Afternoon,
Can anyone recommend to me a good B&B in the Shaftsbury area (Doesn't have to be that close), looking for somewhere to base a weekend's worth of M/biking from (with a possible visit to Bovington...).
Cheers

Apache Helicopter over Ongar, Essex.. keep seeing these over last few weeks & couldn't work out where they are going.. quick search come up with this..
I often see apaches flying over north Essex. They seem to go airfield hopping over the old WWII airfields. I've even seen one mooching down Standsted's runway at a sedate pace before heading off to RAF Andrewsfield (used to live nearby).

So what CAD programme do you use? I've used Rhino and am thinking about getting a into it. Have you any thoughts or tips?
