Hi all, it's been a while since I've been on here as life tends to get in the way of the hobby! Anyway I had a problem 2 years ago with my mk1/2 ferret and basically parked it under cover to wait its turn for me to look at it, well yesterday was that day, brought 2 new batteries for it ,popped them on and she fired up, all going well so far!
Reversed her out all ok, went to drive her back in and as the ground is quite uneven and grassy I accelerated a tad more, she then just sat there spinning the front offside wheel and the was a lot of banging and crunching coming from the front drive shaft next to my left leg and this seemed also to be coming from the wheel as well!
Now the original problem was I had taken her out for a drive when there was an almighty bang from that wheel with the same banging and crunching noise, as it was getting dark and we had no phone signal I slowly drove her home as I wasn't to far away.
I was hoping that the handbrake on that side had stuck on then basically the shoe or shoe assembly has broken but I'm now thinking before I get the wheel off could this be a wheel station that has gone?
I really hope it's not!!!
Has anyone ever come across this before?

I regret to announce that Roy williams the founder of the Powys and mid Wales military vehicle trust sadly passed away yesterday from a brain haemorrhage, he emigrated some time ago to Canada but was well remembered by people due to his fantastic displays that he put on.
Members of the Oswestry military vehicle club (formerly Powys and mid Wales mvt) send our sincere condolences to his wife Ann Williams.

Can anyone suggest a company to rebuild a 24v starter motor?

Had a look what my mate bought out here for 3000 quid... All I can say is I wish he bought a second one for the spare he needs for this one :wow:
looks like mechanically the steering box is gone, prop shaft and I'm told a hydraulic pump?? Didn't look to deep as was more interested in the silver Merc behind it, plus off travelling again in the morning. I'll have to dig on ebay for some manuals

It's a Kidde-Graviner "Firewire" sensing cable, used in most post-war British AFVs. They're wrapped round the engine and/or engine bay to form a continuous circuit. The substance inside changes with heat and triggers an alarm.
The Gotcha is that the detection system normally bypasses the vehicle master switch so flattens the batteries of the unwary!
Andy
Any idea what its worth before i put it on ebay?

Apologise for not getting back to this thread sooner, yes my fault wrong date!! It is the 4th July for the one day, the vehicles and displays are to be dotted around Wrexham town centre, unfortunately I can't make it due to another commitment but I'm hoping to gain some interest for other people to go.
-
Hi all just a quick message regarding a request for vehicles (all eras) for an event being organised in Wrexham on the 4th july i am

Back for 2015 oswestry military show 22nd/ 23rd August pm me your email address for forms, to be held at park hall farm oswestry Shropshire
-
I'm very lucky I've got all 3 mentioned above, it all boils down to how much gear you want to cart to a show as you'll find out half the stuff that people take they don't need, personally a 9x9 is ample for a long weekend

Hi all, just testing the water to see what interest there would be in holding a military vehicle show in Oswestry Shropshire, this is something that we have done before but now that we are no longer part of the mvt we have to pay for our own event public liability insurance which is alot!
If there is enough interest then we would be looking at holding it in sept...so over to you guys please pm me if you would be interested in coming

I see this was posted on the 19th and no one has commented, what is it with the military vehicle hobbiest who is seems to me is only interested in ww2! Bet if this was a ww2 ship there would of been several replies!!
I see on another thread regarding the LCT my words ring true!!!

Good luck with trying to deal with Peel ports, not sure if anyone followed HMS Plymouth but to cut a long story short they sold that for scrap threw a company they set up just for it, once ship went to Turkey they wound the company up so not to leave a paper trail.
They are only interested in profit and not our heritage to them they are just scrap!!!
-
I can't say for sure, I get the feeling she was an embarrassment to them, perhaps a sign that they went back on their word. (I remember visiting her when she was still owned by the Warship Preservation Trust and being told the Peel Ports had guaranteed her berth for long as needed etc.)
Peel Ports certainly went to extraordinary measures to make sure she was destroyed. Over the years there were several groups (including the HMS Plymouth Trust) who were willing to take her off PP's hands, including paying them her value in scrap.
Best thing is, she didnt actually belong to Peel Ports!!!

Could we have an update on this please
