  1. the death of the 15/19 H happened because the Belgians on our left flank withdrew without permission/letting the regiment know, thus allowing the Germans to outflank us. The supporting motor machine gun regiment failed to appear and the supporting Gunners found our main route/Assche Line was out of their arc. The regiment could not pull back until permission from Brigadier 2nd Armoured Bde was given, which it did not, so there was nothing that Lt Col DS Frazer could do but fight and lose his regiment.

  2. I agree with Alien FTM, I can only remember having 1919A4 on our ferrets in the 15/19 H, However in 1986 when I joined the TA (QOY) I had a L4A1 on my MK 1/2, this remained until the Ferret was withdrawn and replaced with a Spartan. this vehicle was used by the SSM, which was brilliant as there was 2 of us in a veh designed for 8.

If you want either a LMG or GPMG there are a couple of good scources for replicas on the internet, you can get all of the different models.

In reply to AlienFTM's comment about stay behind teams.

When serving in BAOR with 15/19H I can remember being roled as stay behind in the HARTZ mountain region. We used to do "adventure training" in civvies in our AOR so we could do reccies, and can remember seeing one of our bunkers in which we would hide and then when the Red Forces came past we would appear and take out their regimental/brigade hqs.

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply, The period you have given is when I was in SHQ D Sqn

so I,d have commanded her. I'll have a look at my pictures and old regimental journals and see if i've got any in service pictures.

    Hi Dave,

Are you sure the Sultan is Ex D Sqn, as D is based in Newcastle upon Tyne, and I don't think any Geordie worth his salt would call his veh Belfast. However B Sqn (NIH) is/was based in Northern Ireland and probably have vehs with Irish towns/Cities on them, but I could be wrong.

I've had lunch with the Queen and Prince Phillip, Tony and Cherie Blair :police:(200TH Anniversary of Yeomanry at Windsor) Met Princess Margaret when she was Colonel in Chief,

Major General The Duke Of Westminister (ex CO QOY). Same driving course as Capt Mark Phillips at Bovington, famous as reported as signalling to turn right and then turned left in a CVRT.

    Oh happy days.

  7. Hi Lee & Chris,

Spent time on Fox in 15/19 H and QOY, i'll dig out some pictures and post them when I can. The thing I remember most about Fox is that you have to be 4ft tall to crew them and that they are a bitch to work on.

    regards Bazz.
