  1. looks like the vehicle is a Commer Q4 and I know some of them were out at Woomera and Maralinga. Looking again I think it is a Q4 tipper chassis adapted to raise the frame the rocket or whatever is mounted on.

They men look like they may not be service personnel, so this is a government test programme.

  2. Quite a good article I though.

Something I've been working on for a few years - work to do on the suspension when it arrives in the U.K but looking forward to getting the beast home.

Cant say much more really but the Matilda will be doing the rounds next year.

    Hi Mark,

I did not want to give too much away, but as it was on national TV in Australia the secret was out. Look forward to seeing it out and about.

    regards, Richard

  3. Richard, my eyes are probably no better than yours and I can't get the photo to blow up any larger (do you have a higher res version?) - but the pedals look LAC?? to me - is it possibly a Lacre? The radiator is roughly the right shape.

I agree, it looks like Lacre.

  4. Hello Richard thanks for the response, the carb is a Zenith up draught, I cannot find any numbers on it so far,

    cheers Chris.

    Hi Chris,

    The website is a US business, and covers most trucks, but oddly, not Mack, but does have Zenith kits and parts, so this link takes you straight to the Zenith section;

    http://www.carburetor-parts.com/Zenith-_c_38.html

I have not dealt with this company, just found it whilst looking for parts for a job.

  5. hi to you all looking out for oil filter for my green goddess fire engine can anyone in Wiltshire in south west uk

    Hi Green Goddess,

I think you are on the wrong section with your post. However, for Bedford parts in your locality, talk to Norman Aish of Bygone Bedford Bits, in Poole Dorset. He will post parts to you pretty quick.

  6. Hi, yes tried Richard, surprisingly we hasn't any. Do you know if they are used on other machines, saracens for instance? I'm not desperate yet, infact far from it but always keen to find some or a shell or WHY!

    thanks

    Jim

    Hi Jim,

Saracen and other Alvis vehicles are different, as are Mk4 Ferrets. I am sure someone will have changed a complete wheel station at some time so the should be some around somewhere.

  7. Yes well done Richard spot on!

What was it that did it for you? The man standing in it? The new image that just showed the edge of circular hand grab? Or the fact that one just appeared for sale?

Just need to know the location & the organisation doing these tests in 1965.

Clive it was the oval lashing loops on the bin, I knew them but was not associating with armour. Is it something that was being done at Aldermaston or maybe Farnborough?

  8. OK, I'll give a step by step account of what I'm doing, uploading a file that's trimmed to 1000 pixels max:

Click on the Insert Image icon, From Computer, Browse, Upload File:

The image appears in the message box, hit Preview Post to see what's happened. I briefly see an error message about "function preg.match" and the duplicate thumbnail has appeared.

    I hope that helps?

    Andy

    Hi Andy,

I recall an issue in the past with clicking on Preview and pictures were lost, I never go on Preview. This problem only arose in April, so perhaps something has changed in the Website during that time?

  9. Richard, I too am uploading from my PC in a manner identical to the way I have uploaded many times before. It's an internal problem with the forum website, because as I said in my previous post there's an error message flashed up briefly when the post is submitted. Unfortunately it's too quick to catch. It's interesting that your post shows only the thumbnail rather than the full image.

    Andy

    Andy,

I know my photo of the LARC is labelled as a thumbnail, but considering the size and the fact you can click on it a few times and get it full screen.

I have a feeling that those posting duplicate photos are loading the photo and also clicking 'Insert Online" (as I did with the post of a K2 ambulance). Some feedback from others is needed to see if this is what they are doing. Still could be an issue with the way the website is set, maybe it has had an update recently.

I am out of my comfort zone and knowledge with this now. Give me a hydraulic or engine problem any day!

    cheers Richard

  10. Would anyone have or know of a carb rebuild kit for a Mack NM engine (707) ?

    Cheers Chris.

    Hi Chris,

What make carby does it have? I came across a US website recently with new kits listed. Let me know and I will find the details.

  11. To reply to my own post, it seems I am not having a problem, so to all those who are reading this and have posted photos which have duplicated, it will be interesting to hear where your photos were loaded on to the forum from.

  12. As a Moderator, I was contact by Jeremy (Rampant Rivet) about this issue, but not having powers or knowledge of the inner workings of this website, I could do nothing and told him to raise the issue with those in charge of the site, ie Jack, Joris or Lee (Marmite). So far I have not heard anything. It seem not all posts with photos have duplication of images, so to fault find you would need to know details of how or where the photos are obtained from, ie, from computer's photo library, from mobile phone, or from one of the internet photo saving sites. This may give a pattern to the problem.

Just as a test, I have attached a photo here from my computer's photo library so will see what happens.

    regards, Richard
