Seems Nordian Services was wound up in 2012 (Companies house info)

stock taken over by anyone or weighed in?

I recall Wally's business and stock being sold quite a few years ago. I think some of the Canadian Ford parts were bought by a certain dealer in Holland. Someone up in the North of England was running a business under the Nordian name and I did get an item from them, but it appeared to be a part time operation. Then when I was after some more parts, about 15 years ago, I found that the stock had been bought by a man in Liverpool area and I was able to get some V8 parts for a WOT6 from him. Then I believe the stock moved on again and I never did find where it ended up.

    Hi Richard,

    Thanks for the lead.

I guess I will have to look for a parts manual for a Centurion tank to confirm. I would imagine the manual won't be easy to find?

Looking through some of the parts it does suggest the vehicle has 5 forward and 2 reverse gears.

    Hi Jim,

The reason I come to this conclusion is the LV1 parts are tank related, so definitely not for David Brown tractors! The transmission on a Centurion was a Merritt-Brown design, and it had 5 forward and 2 reverse gears.

These parts appear to be up to early 1970's and would of been military spares from Australia.

    Hi Jim,

I would hazard a guess that these parts are for the Centurion tank

At the request of a ferret owner l put L R one shot in the hubs and bevel boxes l have to admit l was not to sure. After a while it came in because a bad leak from the inner hub  when it was stripped out which is a really mess to do very little had gone in  to the  the inner bevel despite  all levels been checked when filled with the  one shot several times to allow for it to find its own level as with oil l am still not convinced that for the inner it is a good idea

    Hi Wally,

I am with you on this, my view is that this was an idea for Land Rover swivels, and it is not compatible with Daimler Dingo, Armoured Car or Ferret, due to its inability to flow to the required areas. Having had many years experience working on both Ferrets and Dingos (and all other MV's) and understanding the workings of them, there is a high risk of damage due to lack of lubrication on all moving parts. I was asked about final drives over heating on a Daimler armoured car and asked what the oil level was like in the bevel boxes, when checked it was found that they had grease in them. I then asked where the heat was and it was pointed out to the section of drive line between the two tracta joints, the shafts in this section run in bronze bushes so very likely they were not getting the lubrication and possibly the inner tracta was not getting any either.

With Dingos, the lubricant in the outer tracta also feed in to the wheel bearings and it is unlikely that this "L/R" grease will flow in to that area.

If owners are concerned about leaks then it is time to renew the seals and check condition of the tracta challis's for scoring or pitting.

For Dingos and Daimler armoured cars, the recommended oil for the final drives is SAE 140 gear oil    (NOT EP 140)

I have found a dozen or so of these; LV6/MT1 PT/492320. Just noticed they were packed 4/57 when I was 8....

Any ideas what vehicle they are for ?

    Hi Bob,

Your seals are listed in the 1950 edition of the 6/MT1 Vocab. No applications shown for seals, but sizes are:

    Shaft diam. 3 5/8"

    OD; 4.928"

    Housing diam; 4.922"

    Width 1/2"

    Thanks, Richard.

Would you have the Air Publication number for that, just in case the Army one has gone - which it probably has?

    Mark,

Info came from Army Code 60293 Equipment Regulations- Pamphlet No. 8 - Nomenclature and Coding of A, B, C and D Vehicles. Although listed as in RAF service the crane IPC was an Army Code number as quoted.

The difference between the MK and MJ really is the Multi-fuel engine of the MK, compared to the pure diesel engine of the MJ.

    Mark,

There was another main difference between MK and MJ, that was in the air brake system. On the MK all air pipes were steel. On the MJ they were plastic pipes, this meant that all the fittings, elbows and adaptors were different.

Having successfully compiled a list of manuals and guides for the Stolly, I'm now gathering files for the Bedford Mk and MJ

I've put all the M Type service and maintenance files on the back end of my HMLC Stalwart site. Facebook isn't the best for displaying PDF files. Waiting for MOD to provide some more files.

There's a few files already released by the MOD for the MJ, but a few that aren't. I have submitted a second FOI for more files, but what I have so far is coloured in the chart below.
The orange colour means I have examples still restricted. Easy enough to get them unrestricted though. Incredibly, the Stolly IR switch is still classified information, so I guess the Bedford one will be as well.
Need to get a list of Associated publications for the MK.

If you've got any files, especially the MK, and can help then please drop me a line
    Thanks

    Mark,

I note in your list of MK associated publications is one for a HIAB crane, not sure whether these were ever used on Army MK or MJ as I worked in REME workshops for 22 years and all the mounted loader cranes I ever had dealings with were Atlas make. I used to repair and test the cranes as one of my tasks.

It's interesting to note that the wheel bearings on the Dennises are simple bronze sleeves. And seem to bear up reasonably well. Easy (if expensive) to re-make.

At a recent steam rally, the 1930 Sentinel steam wagon from HMS Sultan, suffered a front wheel bearing failure on route, and surprisingly, it was just a large bronze bush.

    Hi Mick,

That would be right as I was on a course at Plant Roads & Airfields Wing and positive it was 1980. Do you remember a REME Major there named Kemp?
