  1. Ca va mon v :-D Crapuds rule . Last time I got over with vehicle was May 9 2005 with the Dodge, and the Garrison. People over here still talk about. I hear Richard is organising something soon. Great what the rock needs. I show the dodge in Force 135 colours. she will be off to Ieper as support vehicle for a Passendale Remembrance march. A lot of Good jersey men died so I will honoured and proud to fly the flag. I always spend sometime at Lothregin. People are posting photos of British vehicles in German use else where. I've put them on to CIOS site and Occupation memorial site. We probably know a lot of the same people, say hello Denis Le jeune next time you see him. and raspberry's to a few other, Oh I miss the Island poltics, you couldn't write a soap opera of it, no one would believe it.

  2. Hi Daren, I've come to that conclusion. First job will be to sit down and work out what I dont need. If you don't know the ambulance the is a whole heap of extras. As mine is functional I need the kit working, fortunatley the 'specials' are all right. Current thinking is to cut back to good wire and go from there. The truoble is a wire cooked on Friday, that started it off. It also appears the ignition is wired through the fuse box. For some reasons now as soon as the ignition is turned on the headlights go on, then at unpredictable times the fuse blows and kills the ignition.

  3. ME, for reasons sated. I will be at Ieper at the end of the month for the 90th anniversary of Passendale. The Dodge will be support vehicle. I would recommend, if you can get an invite, go to BOAR in Belgium. Now that is a show for Military Vehicle Owners, no public, great site and great people. The price of kit is also stupendously low. Makes you really belive in rip off Britain.

  4. Hey Siric, that's because you have tracks. I'm sure very few would disagree that 'War and Track' show would be a better name. I supported the show for many years, but when things got nasty a few years ago I decided that as I do things because I enjoy them, and frankly I like to sleep at night without wondering if my kit will be there in the morning or a Quad bike run into the tent at 2am. No more. True the show is under new management, so wait and see.

  5. Well I HOPE your not disappointed, My life is to short and my time to valuable to waste 5 days making money for other people. As a friend of mine said some years ago 'If we don't bring our vehicles, all you have to show the public is an empty feild' time to remind them of that.

  6. Dodd's engine, which he claimed was a Merlin, was a Meteor. I was working for Avation Jersey at the time, yeah , the place that supplied engines to Rodesia  Mind you it took the MPs at westminster 2 years to find out :-D. Dodd tried to scrounge a lot of spares. Also got Rolls totally wound up. Also he claimed 200 mph for the vehicle, what most starry eyed journalist know all' motoring Correspondents' didn't notice was that it a Kilometere graduated speedo. as you may gather I wasn't impressed by him.

  7. Hi Rick, not really, ask your local office anout it and come up with a reason. Mine stands casualty transport at Military , off road and Equine events, she can get in where the average St John's or county vehicle can't. The important bit is the vehicle must be kitted with stretchers and first aid medical kit. Most of the time I work with two paramedic friends who supply the skill.

  8. The other card to play is 'Commercial vehicle registered before 1960 and not used commercially' Or stick a tow rope in and call it a 'Recovery Vehicle'. the MOT will consist off ' Are any bits falling off' 'Does it smoke like a ****?' and 'Do the lights work?' thats about all that can be checked. The list of what they don't need is longer. If the winscreen hinges open, not down, to 90' you don't need wipers. If wipers or indicators are fitted they must work.

Golden rule has to be 'Keep it roadworthy at all times'

  9. The German's used any equipment they could get, by fair means or foul . I have many photos taken in jersey during the Occupation and after of British vehicles and French tanks in german service. Most of the Artillery on the western Wall was French, chezh, and even Russian battleships guns. My old doctor had a 1938 Packard before the Occupation. It ended up he belived in France as General's staff car.

  10. The magic words, or lack of them are on the tax renewal form. If it DON'T say MOT it don't need one. The Post Office can get their knickers twisted because the computer says ' No MOT history' show the form and point out it dosen't need one. The MOT laws are a nightmare anyway. Bear in mind the MOT is At the time of examination- 2 minutes later you can still be done for an unroadworthy vehicle. Just keep the vehicle serviced up to scratch. For instance an ambulance- if it fits the DVLA requirments needs on ly a Class 4 MOT, car, regardless of weight. Any 101 ambulance not rated as such should have a Plate as it is rated over 3 tonns.
