  1. Did you rebablance  braking on the wheels? Yes one cylinder may be pushing more than the other. Trouble is , shoes wear and so do the drums. Modern brakes self adjust. Dodge brakes , every time you change something you have to reset the entire brake clearances, front and back. Also the wheel cylinders are left and right handed. Did you fit the correct cylinder for the wheel?

  2. It's had a new reciver in vehicle for the key fob, the fob is known to work. The door locks have wear a known , %^&**** when it comes to the EKA , which was done by the book , with a stopwatch. It was working , then just stopped! Going to be something stupid. I've also fitted and checked new fuse box and the BCM module. Sounds like investing in a Nanocom is going to be the way forward. There are a lot of Discos and Freelanders coming onto the radar at the moment. God! Give me back 1,2, 2a and 3's!

  3. Being greedy I have a P38, a V8 Discovery 2 with a proper gas conversion, and the immobiliser locked 😧. Also a Land Rover Discovery 2 , Special Vehicle, in the throws of rebuilding using parts from my other Td5 which has terminal chassis rot.

Jon the P38 engine turns over but won't fire, the V8 just sits there looking smug! and the alarm beeping!

Thanks for the heads up on the Nancom. with the collection I seem to aquiring, might well be worth getting one.

  4. Intresting about the air cooled engines. My boss still has his first car, a VW Bettle that you can eat your dinner of fthe paintwork, he also has a couple of old Malta buses, one started life as a Matador. I'm currently driving mostly a pair of Merc Sprinters, their doing over a thousand miles a week. Lovely vehicles but very touchy if you you use the wrong oil or the wrong amount.

Edit: Not a Matador, a QL!

  5. I'm old enough to rememeber (Just) the launch of a World First- Duckhams Q20/50 multi valance  Motor Oil! No more multiple oil changes ,one oil for all seasons. Same arguments, sucking of teeth and shaking of heads. 🤣 60 odd years later, multi valenace oil is now the norm. Transmissions and difffs I'd agree with you,

As for Halford's, no, I was using Valvolene 20/50 , which is expensive. I needed to do an oil change before going to Jersey and didn't have time to get the Valvoline so I went into Halfords and bought thier oil, which was cheaper. First thing I noticed was at the end of a long run the oil pressure stayed up compared to Valvoline. I ALWAYS let the engine idle down after a long run, since then I've used it with no problems. Maybe the long gevity of the vehicles is A they are built like bricks, B They were designed to work in extreme conditions, and C The drivers were taught to care for and be sympathtic to the vehicle. I know it's a hoary old chestnut, but Howard who was the first to teach me about mechanicals, always said 'Listen the vehicle, it will tell you if anything is wrong'.

Providing his - 2.25 diesel is a 2286 cc Solihull lump ,  not out of something like a Daihatsu.    Probably such as a slightly later  2.5na is also acceptable.   Of course  RULES  should be in plain English (they are) and easily understandable  (not)  ,,

Don't be silly! If laws and regulations were crystal clear how would lawyers make a living? 😕

Doubt it would float the lid is not watertight. Looks more like a locker fitted under truck bodies.

The original Naval document dump boxs are like small safes, a two man lift with four holes in the bottom which which are on quick release bases , handles on the side plus other holes to allow quick sinking. I had a couple that I used as floor safes.
