NO, thats just a blue civilian 107" Landrover cut down back body a very old crane typical garage breakdown, and fake Royal Navy sign on the door
-
I have never seen or heard of a Military or RAF Landrover fitted with a Harvey Frost crane in service use, there is always the possibility of an RAF main workshop equiping one, it would be interesting to hear what history do you know about your 109 that leads you to think it may have had a crane , very likely it had a crane fitted in later civilian life, ..

To be finicky, the vehicle is equipped as a motorhome, For that class of vehicle a licence relevant to the vehicles MAM is needed.
No it does not, even if the Hippo was registered as a Motorcaravan, its all fixed equipment, not a load its pre 1960 Historic commercial vehicle and only requires a cat.B car licence to drive it, same for a 30 year old bus can be driven on car licence, restricted to 8 passengers
-
(..way to big for my licence)
The Hippo is pre a 1960 Historic commercial vehicle so can be driven unladen on a category B car licence

Price has dropped because it now has leaking brake cylinders, not drivable

Pete Ashby has been restoring a Retriever for some years

Champs are mechanically very complex, not easy to work on and fairly high maintenance too, , the one for sale will need more than a little recommisioning its probably a good basis for restoration, it was way overvalued hence no sale, they are not particularly rare, best to buy one thats already sorted and someone else has spent lots of money on

HMVF is perhaps not the best place to ask for fenders as this Dodge is not really a Military vehicle as such, its entirely a 4x2 Civilian pattern Dodge supplied to the Military, ..American truck/pickup truck sites would better places to ask
-
Going to be scarce thing to find good condition rear fenders, for a stepside pickup, repro fiberglass ones are available,.. Contact Bart at Fleetmasters & Co in Belgium, they restored a similar WC38 and regularly import vehicles/parts from the US

The K9 Engine is Austin's own successfull 4 litre 6 cylinder petrol engine used extensively in their civilian & military Commercial range of trucks, Google search Austin Loadstar, used through the 1950/60s it was also fitted to the Austin Princess Limo,
.its Not a Rolls B60 engine.. but Do not mistake it for the 1967 Austin Westminster Vanden Plas 4 litre R which the engine was derived from the Rolls B60, but was only used in the Vanden Plas R car

it could be a Brockway 666 crane truck

I had HMJ 951F which is very strange.
not really, the likes of RR Services would have registered several ex military vehicles together so both Champs were registered at same time, back then were issued with consecutive reg. numbers, ....btw, DVLA shows HMF 951J still exists and is currently taxed

Hi! I am a new member. I note that the link to the YouTube clip is no longer working. I owned this vehicle in the 1980s and would simply love to see it again
I look forward with interest to any feedback. 🙂
