Some years ago there used to be a uniform surplus store somewhere in or near Hackney, a huge place looked like a victorian warehouse in a no-through side street. Anyone know where it was - or still is?

Found this thread on the CMN forum, some pictures that may be of interest.

Apologies if it's been posted before but it made me smile. Rather long but good from about 27 mins in.

Scroll forward a couple of months and most of the hub pins have been replaced with ht bolts, now I have a fuel problem.
Started suffering from crud in the fuel. Cleaned the tank and blown the lines out but the environment it gets used in means keeping it clean isn't easy. Got tired of cleaning the carb so I fitted a filter. It would appear that the little pump on the side of the carb may not be man enough the drag the fuel through so I intend to fit an electric pump to help things along.
So my question is would a 12v pump from an old car produce too much pressure for the carb to cope with?
Would I be better off with a pump from a motorbike?
What would the current draw be?

It's a long time since I watched 'A Bridge To Far', but I seem to recall at one point a lone soldier on the bridge carrying a black umbrella.
Today I was watching 'WW2 in colour' about the Italian campain and again there is a soldier carrying an open black umbrella.
Coincidence or significance? (or early onset madness?)

Mentioned again today, someone called Mark apparently.
Tankfest also got airtime but I can't remember who was being interviewed.

I remember Mildenhall, and the Starlifter burger bar. Pay in £, get change in $. Ideal as the vending machines only took $!
It's the residential areas that I liked. As previously said, just like a little America.

Ah, sorry. Missed the context. :red:
Must watch more closely.

OI - Spoiler alert!
You should say 'Did you notice that the Clansman CBF is a similar design to the Tardis door control switch?'
Good grief. :wow:
You'll be saying Santa doesn't exist next.

Thanks for the info. It parted company with it's backactor years ago, can't remember why though.
Maybe suits an enthusiastic do-er upper!

Looking at the diagrams, am I right in thinking the axle/hub drive pins should be 5/16" x 2 1/2" roll or spirol pins? (or the metric equivilent?)

I'm curious about a car I used to own. It was a 1978 mk2 Escort, bought at auction unregistered. I was told it was ex-army at Thatcham, and the key tag had 05GX38 on it. I'd love to know where it lived and what it was used for.
Any help appreciated. Rob.

Standing in the near-drizzle at Farnborough beside Buccaneer XV344 "Nightbird" with a fair number of other people ...

As was wifey.
On the other hand, I was the only one parked by a busy dual carriageway near the Newport transporter bridge, world carrying on as normal around me. Oh well...

Saw them at Glastonbury last night.
A difficult subject for a carnival float but brilliantly done. Audience reaction where we were appeared very positive but mixed, as in not being sure wether to cheer, applaud, salute or silence.
Well done all involved, very moving.

A very smart jeep in the vintage car line-up at Glastonbury carnival.

I think you're right with the Fiat, although I'd forgotten all about the Taunus - wow - very similar.
I remember about fifteen or maybe twenty years ago there was a tv ad for Argos (I think) which showed something being loaded into a strange squarish looking rhd MPV with a Ford badge on it, long before the Galaxy came on the scene. Some years later we were at a car dealer looking at a creature called a Mazda Bongo and there at the back of the yard amongst the other Japanese imports was a squarish looking MPV wearing a Ford badge. It was a Bongo, but rebadged as a Ford Freda!
If I'd had you guys and the internet then I'm sure I'd have found what it was a whole lot quicker.
And no, I didn't get one.

OK, new one for you. The new 'Bakers Meaty Meals' ad - anyone ID that van??

Done, thanks.

Thanks for that.
Would you mind if I copied that info back to the other site?

I'll have a look at the map later' see if the road names link up with what I remember. I'm sure the road it was on ran east-west with the entrance at the east end - the shop would have been on the north side of the road.
