Welcome in Bob,lots to share here.

Hi Richard, I too would be interested in the flywheel seal used so I can get one ahead of the job.
Many thanks
Steve
Also what modern plug is best to use. Thanks

Hi Terry,
Any coils available will be around 60 years old, for reliability I would use a suitable modern 12v coil and you can easily make up normally HT and LT leads to it. There is a tendency now to fit normal spark plugs and change the screened leads to conventional 7mm HT cable. The original type plugs if found are expensive and do tend to foul, where as modern plugs have a wider heat range, more available and a lot cheaper. This all increases reliability and performance.
Getting into a Dingo if of a larger size, that is long in the leg, etc is not easy, but once in there they are a cracking little vehicle and years ahead of their time. They spawned the transmission layout designs of all the Alvis 6x6 range as well as Ferret and Fox.
The reason the seat is at an angle is mainly so the driver can see out of the rear hatch if caught in an ambush and has to slam it into reverse, with seat in lowered position.
I am current rebuilding a Dingo engine and will be changing the flywheel seal and will send you the seal details as you should get it from a normal bearing stockist locally. To access, the engine and gearbox has to be lifted out as one unit, entailing removal of petrol tank, bulkhead and some flooring, not a quick job but an opportunity to check out and other problems and give it a good clean up.
Good to see it out again.
regards, Richard

Blimey that looks nice, well done.:-)

I too use Carrotech, great also to see where you have been on holiday with the Jeep as it records every movement!

I was one bid of the afs RL Bedford but having buyers premium and vat on that and the cost of getting the gear home all adds up, the workshop RL made £5900!!
I thought the workshop RL was cheap.........it was fully fitted out as well.

Por15
in MV Chatter
Have used it on an Austin Champ and a Jeep in the past and it was OK both times, however I used the full kit including the cleaner beforehand.

What did the carrier and restoration project fordson go for?
Bren Gun Carrier, nearly new tracks and new engine but some front armour missing, great order running and driving made £28k. Lovely vehicle.
Fordson made 2600 quid I think.

I think the Cent went for 32k and the Saladin £13k (which seems a bit of a bargain?)
In the pouring rain too, now trying to dry out!

yes, it would be good to see how you get on with it too, I have one in the shed that I have never tried(not for sale)

I was going to say my Wife as she always helps, but thought she might object as the title says 'Oldest tool':cheesy:

I agree with the previous comments, not very sensible for a middle aged driver.......

Pretty sure it was proven to be a cleverly edited picture on another forum a while ago with the undercarriage/jacks removed in processing and a helpful erk laying down to help the illusion.
Regards
Steve

I looked at this at Ramsey and although I had seen it before (Weeting I think)I had a better look at the show. I chatted about the weight if you recall. You have made a great job of it and it looks very comfortable. Looks very good with your vehicle as well. Possibly last as long as Montys as well!
-
Very popular vehicle, someone will want it even if you don't.
As you have known about it for 30 years it's destined to be yours!

Welcome in, a lovely introduction, very interesting.

Number 2 Brown refers to SCC No.2 Brown, one of the range of Standard Camouflage Colours brought out during WW2. I have had this colour matched from a large part of a vehicle that was covered by a regulator panel inside, so not faded or disturbed.
Number 2's ............mmmm...........I've had kids..........that must be brown then!:-D
