Lauren here is one of threads covering the colour issue for water jerrycans.

For wartime it's probably SCC2. This thread might help - http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?39533-SCC2-(Brown)-paint
Thanks for that Lauren although that thread has muddled me up a bit!
I have got an original service Brown ammo box I can copy though, so I will go for that I think.
Its for 25 pounder shells so I think its right.

Thanks for the reply, if anyone has the correct B.S. paint code for the Brown I would appreciate it. Thanks Steve

I have got some in original color, some are brown ,and some are matt black.
Thanks for that Maurice...................would they still have the white cross?

Hi All, I have just bought a 1944 Jerry can with 'water' impressed in it for my Jeep, I have been after one for a while but they seem hard to find in good condition. My Jeep is in British markings and in Green BS.298 and I was wondering what would be the correct colour for it as I will have to paint it again as its been painted red in the past but retained its white cross and white under the handle.
Any suggestions ?
Many thanks Steve

Lol. I would say I'm "in the club", but as I'm getting married next weekend the rumours would be terrible.

The 750 tins were from Johnstones.
Thanks for the replies anyway.
If they only had 750 size tins then maybe there is a shortage somewhere

Has anyone else found any problem in the last few weeks in finding any Red Oxide?
We tend to buy ours in 5ltr cans from trade suppliers but in the last few weeks none has been available in a couple of outlets.
Had to resort to going to a DIY store and buying 2 x 750ml tins just to get a job finished on friday.
Not noticed but not bought any lately......the best I find comes from 'Johnstones' (google it for a shop near you) You may already know of it.

Why on earth was that a better device than a tipper?
David
Lower profile perhaps?
They use walking floor trucks today to tip into low buildings.

Bulbs
in MV Chatter
12v21w are no problem in orange, I use them in my Panzerwagon indicators(BMW) but 6v would be impossible.
Orange paint is the best way as everyone has said I am sure..
