depends which model of t72 they are fielding. from what we have seen so far, it would appear that some old spec 'sacrificial' armour has been pushed to the front to test the waters. NLAW is single shaped charge with either top or side attack mode. Frontline t72 has extensive explosive reactive armour covereage (even on turret roof) and active AT missile protection. As with any tank though-just shoot it up the back end and knock it out

good article, explains how the system works. I was getting very high resistances both forward and backward over all 6 power diodes, and no charge or ammeter reading although the gen light was clicking out. Found the busbar connection on the dc positive to the smaller plate type secondary choke to be very loose. Now I have forward resistance  og 180 ohm on all six power diodes (measured across AC1 AC2 AC3 DC+ DC-)

thanks, but what purpose did the cylinder and cartridge holder serve? did it it hydraulically/pneumatically retract the huge spigot rod. Im geussing the rod would have to be back fully before it could be loaded?

how does the petard mortar launch the projectile? some say its rod and spring, looking inside there seems to be a large cylinder with a rotating cartridge holder attached?

your coolant could be leaking via the intercooler into the gearbox

take rad cap off and see if the coolant level is about 50mm below the filler neck

if it has dropped a lot, you will need to verify there is water in the gearbox.

as water is heavier than oil, undo the gearbox drain plug (its on the bottom of the filler tube, accessible from underneath) and see what comes out.

if its all clean oil-good

if its latte coloured or water, you have a problem.

either way you must drop the level down to the safe zone before cranking or serious mechanical damage will be inflicted on the 'box!

the electronic ignition was by Lumenition, but I dont think this is your problem. I sounds more like insufficient fuel supply at maximum demand. There are two filters in the fuel line, the gauze filter in the end of the clack clack pump, and the the fuel filter itself. The metal fuel tank is notorious for corroding from the inside out, and you may find rusty sludge in the filters. If so then your carb will require a meticulous clean and blow out with an airline. Good luck.

The horns should be shiny as they pass between the inner and outer wheels (the wheels have a steel rim on the inner edge) and the sprocket teeth will shine a small patch fore and aft of the rectangular holes in each link. You should NOT have metal to metal contact where eack link pivots ie where the track pin goes through. This is a sign the track metallastic bushes have failed. Get the grease out. In time the grease will destroy the track bushes!

As a nipper, I lived close by Chobham clump, and recall two tracked hulls on the opposite side of the road by the car park, on the sloping ground. There was also a large rivetted steel target plate with numerous armour piercing rounds punching through it (many an hour with dad's club hammer trying to knock them out) but really apart from the filming for carry on and hammer films there, not much else was found.

Do you recall when gacious pond was dredged by a pair of traction engines, and what came out?
