Looks great ..

I believe a number of the tool rolls supplied by the manufacturers were thin rexine type as its compact (triumph certainly) but they were too fragile to survive and became brittle so I have yet too find a surviving example after 12 years of searching.
The manufacturers tool roll contents were supplemented by both the riders and army .for examp!e adding a chain splitter ...
My suggestion would be to search for a small army tool roll on eBay and build your own kit up .the handbook should list the manufacturers issued tools and I am aware of photos on this forum and the web of tool kits

Military motorbikes enjoy a premium price in today's market .after the war there was a shortage of motorbikes and dealers and individuals civilianised bikes in order to secure more money .. In today's market it's the reverse and adding military provinence to a bike can increase its value ..
If it was added to your bike the universal petrol engine tag appears to be an attempt to do this as its from a ww2 generator .. I was looking at a generator with a similar tag a few days ago.. I

Located in Yorkshire ..asking for a friend who has struggled to find any engineers locally

Curious can anyone recommend an engineer to fit new valve guides and check the bore on an AJS big port ? .. North of England preferred but all suggestions welcome

The most likely cause is.air.flow ..you seem to have replaced the air filter .cleaned the erg valve .. Next area to look at is the maf sensor ..Curious has this been replaced ?

I was aware that we had chieftains as a cold war reserve .and remember them being serviced annually . But when the government decided their retention was not necessary i believe they were sold off at about 10k a machine.
I had expected to see them entering the hobby as an affordable tank ..but haven't seen them in any numbers .
So a few questions
How many chieftains s did we have in the reserve
And after the government sold them ..where have they all gone ?

Agree .. On prices being subject to negotiation .. But tank values have increased significantly more than other MVa over the last few decades.. I
I also am aware tanks a lot have a T34/85 ex polish army .. Described as driven into position 25 years ago and left..
Mortar investments .. Have a runner in Europe listed at 95.000 Euros
I am aware a few have been re-elected engined with t55/54 Engines .
.. Presumably ex war monuments

There's a fully rsstored.T34/85 advertised on milweb for 150k. I did not see a reference to it being wartime...
That's in the ok . Restored by British engineers...
T34s were exported worldwide post war ....you are likely to find cheaper tanks if you cast your net wider than the UK but may find with shipping and import costs ... Plus corrective maintenance the price difference shrink

Thanks for sharing . Curious are their any issues using generator engines . . I have been hunting a good Willy s generator for a few years but during the search period been advised they could be problematic ?
Also interested is that the original tub ?

The C number can often be derived from the frame and engine numbers ..It's easier to work off photos of these as its not uncommon to find they have been re stamped
The other markings are unit markings ...with a rare few bikes their are surviving record cards which show which unit the bike was allocated to but with most bikes peop!e have chosen units inspired by family that served .a local unit ..or simply one that they would like to represent .
Hope that helps
Chris
Ps you !might want to consider removing the front number plate ..it was a post war addition and subsequently the requirement for them was removed as they proved so dangerous in accidents ..to both rider and pedestrians

Corrosion in any bike petrol tank can be a big issue .. I have fought with 2 tanks for over a decade .. Professionals will often suggest a liner but my personal experience even with the ethanol proof liners is poor
It depends on the level of corrosion but simply washing it to remove sticky residue and then using ball bearings and rotating it seems to work best .. Count in a specific number so you know you get them all out
