  1. Got to have to rethink that Rosie, the Stolly lake is in full flood right now and already lapping at the front doorstep...

No problem we've moved all existing stock (yes you did leave half a bottle) upstairs..

No! I didn't leave half a bottle, Degsy pinched it from me when I popped to the ladies room.

Anyway the grapes in the vineyard are almost ready, roll up your trouser legs everyone!

  2. Phew what a night!!!!!! 101 mph winds recorded off the Isle of Wight. The road totally flooded even outside our place which is unheard of. The police closed the bridge at high tide (which was reported to be 5.9!) we've lost a tree, fence panel and neighbours roof tiles are loose. Not even gone outside yet to see what else has happened. Still blowing F8/9. But of course our flood water just flows back out to sea as the tide goes out so we are very lucky.

  3. so sorry to hear that rosie stay safe and hope all goes well !

To be honest we should be ok, we will be cut off for a while but shouldn't suffer much more. It's the wind that's the scary bit. We have a large tree in the front that has shifted and I'm worried will give in and fall soon. BUT that's nothing compared to what others have and are suffering.

  4. we just moved into a bigger house due to new baby but its high up over sheffield thats a good thing no floods but we take all the high winds been next to an open field ! all stay safe and batten down the hatches

We've just had a flood warning. Our actual road has been mentioned on the warning!!!! High tide at 2330 astronomical high tide expected to be 1.76m along with a 1.12m surge. Force 11 winds just recorded to. Sleepless night coming up and not for the right reasons on valentines night :(

  5. How is everyone getting on in this awful weather? We are doing ok here in the south coast. The tides are not so high although the winds are pushing the waves ever bigger. The forecast for this evening look dreadful over the west side if the UK. Stay safe peeps xx

  6. Hi Jeepwidow. We are a rare breed, understanding wives! The members on here are a great bunch, always up for a laugh, always willing to help with essays for Uni work, always willing to offer an ear or shoulder to cry on. Of course they're good for advice on anything mechanical to!!!!! However they need keeping in order occasionally!

  7. Well the sea came in and flooded a large corner of Hayling yesterday afternoon. I came home from work at 6.30 to find my road closed off due to flooding luckily our place is just before the flood so was able to get in ok. Local environment agency and council been working all night to clear sand and stones back into beach. Another high tide and strong winds over night has no doubt undone some of that work. I can hear the waves as I lie here in bed, normally it's a lovely sound but at the moment it all sounds far too close for comfort. I hope others affected by floods are getting the help they need. Roll on summer, we better not get a hosepipe ban now!!

The storm boards, behind them is the promenade, it's about 4 foot deep and as you can see it's full of water.

This picture is of our eldest on the beach just after Christmas, today the waves were breaking where he was stood just days ago!!!!!!

We are fairly fortunate that as the tide goes out so do most of the flood water.

  9. We had the thunder storm of all thunder storms last night, in fact a local thinks that Thor actually knocked on our doors!!!! The beaches are wrecked, the promenade gone, a couple of seafront houses lost their roofs last night. We are on flood alerts till 4pm today. However the winds and rain seem to drop off next week.
