Any jobs going there ?
I went to see this collection when it was at RAF Cardington in the 1980's. I went to look at the Royal Flying Corps uniforms, and I was amazed at how many they had, racks of them, yet, the RFC display at Hendon, the old workshop set up never changed from the 1970's"........"
One wonders if any of it will ever see the light of day, about 15 years ago I was talking to one of the top chaps at Hendon, and he said that they were then refusing anymore offers of RAF uniforms & flying clothing.........they had so much !
Thanks for sharing

Just a couple more photos, and after a bit more very careful cleaning, i came across the originally painted number, this time with a 'Z'
also got a little bit more information from the Royal Signal Corps badge, the first letter is an 'A' then i think a '1' or a '4' then lastly a '2'
what do you think ?
cheers

i have decided i can't bear to paint over the original markings, so on oneside, i'm going to leave it exposed...........and just varnish it.

Just checked the cenus B vehicle list and M4446963 seems to form part of a batch of numbers running from Z4446759 to Z4447758 this block of numbers formed contract V3971 and is listed as 8cwt 4x2 personnel PV Mk11.
the M prefix on yours is unusual as this was applied to light cars ect
Pete
Yes Pete, i though it was odd having an M prefix................nothing is ever straight forward is it !
does that batch have any date ?
Thank you for this information

i have recently bought an MCC PU8 for restoration, more of that later, but i spent several hours over the weekend sanding down the cab doors and found some of the original markings.
I found its original serial number, and an Arm of Service badge, but i can't work ouit the red writing on top of the Blue/White box
any ideas ?
Enjoy the photos..............

I saved a picture off the web a year or more ago of a Humber based on some pics of a wireless & pers. with a 15cwt rear body in a Bellona booklet. Or is it the original vehicle? I labelled it as a French Humber.I hope there's no objection to this pic being shown.
regards Andrew
Hello Andrew
Yes, i found the same photo on the net, i don't know who it belongs to ? but i'm told that there were very few fitted with wooden GS bodies, it would be interesting to find this vehicle and check its history.

Hi Jules I just looked on their website and can only find US style 900x16 bargrips, do you have a photo of the tread pattern ?
Ian
i thought long and hard about this tyre problem, we all know that the bottom line is, we will never get new Trac grip run flat tyres again, so putting that aside, what options are there for 900x16 wheels...............
Petla's with a reasonable tread pattern .................but not quite right
or
Bar Grips, again with the wrong pattern for British vehicles, however i thought that 95% of people just except bar grips these days and we see them on everything, that they would be ok.
my worry with Petlas is they look modern, but its up to you. i bought two 900 x 16 bar grips from Totec and as i said they fitted like a glove.
