  1. Hi Phil, I suppose I do get a stamp on, but I do like to start early not only that I am working on it nearly every day, depending on other projects and blasting work. Glad your enjoying the restoration. Howard
  2. Well I got some of the dash back together, I have decided to send off for a new chrome bezel, just think it will finish it off. I have also made a start fitting the heat shield on the engine bay panels. Ive also started plumbing in the fuel line. Thats it for now. Howard
  3. Hello Gordon Thanks for that, I will take that into account, when it comes to the witing and fitting the gauges. I am not a great lover of voltage droppers. Howard
  4. Hi Niels Glad you are enjoying the restoration, I am always interested in other restoration jobs. Not that I am looking for work. I am booked up well into 2016. Howard
  5. Hi Gordon the old wiring is a right off, i know that the fuel sender on these half tons have two wires going to them, regards the wiring when it comes to doing this, its having an alternator fitted along with one of jolly engineering electronic ignition kits. The owner wants modern electrics. So should be fairly bullet proof.
  6. Thats interesting stuff, the battery on this is under the front floor panel, no big battery box. Yes tony its going to be a nice vehicle when done, sadly not mine but I do get the enjoyment out of restoring them and bring them back to life, the problem I have, I am so busy doing other peoples vehicles I have no time to do one for my self. Are get there one day, and do one. Howard
  7. well a bit more achieved today. I fitted the battery cables and also stripped and cleaned the control box, i also blasted the cover in the cabinet. I also stripped down the dash panel, removed the gauges and blasted the panel and coated the inside in white to help reflect the back lights. The bezel could do with a rechrome, but you can get a replacement for $45 so i may go down that route. I also got the other front wing top coated as well as some of the other remaining tin work. The tin work on this truck just seems never ending, but I can see the finish I think. Howard
  8. I had a half ton command car arrive on friday. I have only had a quick look over but noticed on the distributor, that the clips that hold on the Distributor cap had extension clips on the clips. After removing the cap there was then another bakelite cap that inside has two brushes there was quite a heavy wire going to this with 3 wires. The shaft on the distributor was longer to take all this, the points were also still there. Was this an early form of electronic ignition or some form of suppression. The neg wire that normally comes from the coil to the distributor was not connected to the distributor. Ive seen nothing like this before has any body else come across it. few pics. Howard
  9. Well Rain stopped play on another blasting job so I managed to get more done the chevrolet. I managed to get the worst of the dent out of the passenger side wing and this was blasted in the container out of the rain, also got other various smaller items blasted. These were then all painted in red oxide. I was hoping to fix up more panels but I am waiting for my dome head screws to come in I got them in stainless steel, as i did the cup washers. I picked up a new 6 volt battery, I also got the rear prop shaft back on. Also got a smaller panel fitted. Just waiting for the call to say the radiator is ready then i can pick it up. a few more pics. Howard
  10. Well a little bit more done today, not so much as I had a delivery in from the USA, another nut and bolt restoration, but thats another blog. I managed to get some of the items in primer top coated in drab, I also got some more anti squeak fitted and some panels. Howard
  11. Well thanks for all the kind words, well more work on the chevrolet has been done today, I managed to get some blasting done on a few parts even though it was raining, also got these items prepped and primed. I also managed to get some of the anti squeak rubber strip fitted, I also fitted a new piece of rubber that is held in place around the hand brake. Excuse the rivets they still need painting. I also removed the air intakes from the front panel before they were blasted. The Radiator has been sent off to have a new core fitted. Hope to have this back next week. I also got the radiator support frame blasted and primed. Well I think thats about it. Howard. A few pics as always.

  14. Started to fit up the other front brake cylinder, this morning and as the pics will show, a small fork lug is missing from one side of the cylinder. dont suppose any one has one kicking around. Bloody annoying as they were all there when i sent them away. Oh the joys of restoration. Thanks.

  16. Hello Pete, yes the anti sqeak on this one looks like it was bituminous, some of it also had like a piped edge that you could see on the outside of the bodywork, a bit like piping. I think i can get the piping type from Walker Rubber, not sure about the other just wonder weather a good sealant would do the same job what do you think, or some thin rubber strip with a smear of silicone to hold it in place. Always open to other suggestions. I will be installing brake pipes this week and fitting the master cylinder. Thanks Howard
  17. Hello Pete, Yes I shall be I spotted an area yesterday where there should be some, just got to source a supplier are probably try walker rubber, just got to find a piece of a good example. I have also got to find some heat shield instead of the asbestos. there be a few staple holes from the asbestos but cant be off that. I could do with that fuel tank soon. if you dont mind boxing her up and are get it collected. Howard.
  18. Well a little bit more done to the chevrolet, I have mounted the cab frame work back onto the chassis ive also made up some new wood work for the floor sections to sit. Thats about it for now.
  19. I do put in silly hours sometimes, I am glad your enjoying the restoration. Howard
  20. Well gaskets made for the back of the back plates and they are now installed and bolted up. The transfer box and linkages are also in. I have also fitted the fuel tank brackets and also the brackets that the cab frame bolt to is also installed. heres a few pics.
  21. Well the engine and gear box are now back in the chassis. Some of the oil seals have turned up so, I can also look at getting the front axles together. I have also managed to get more metal work blasted and painted. Since this pic I have got the transfer box installed and also lots of the linkages, the handbrake is also in, as well as the front axles back together. Need to make some paper gaskets before I fit the four back plates to the hubs. Are post a more up to date pic soon. Howard
  22. Well most of the seals that i need are now in at the supplier, so are be off to collect them in the morning. The engine is now back in the chassis. The water pump has also been rebuilt and back on the engine. I have also got the cab frame blasted and painted, plus lots of other bits.
  23. Thought I better update the build. Well all brake parts have been sent off, and are now ready for collection, I also had the shoes relined at the same time. I have also managed to source all of the seals that i required, so just waiting for these to arrive. I have been through the engine, fitted a new head gasket. put back together and it has been cleaned and painted. Ive also made new H/T leads for her, also new points ect. Still not decided weather to stay 6 volt or while I am at this stage to up grade to 12 volts, I will talk to the owner and let them decide on that one. Various metal work has been blasted and painted. The main floor panel has also been blasted and primed and top coated. Most of the rotten metal has been removed from the body. Next stage will be to blast the body and prime then get it in the work shop for the new metal work to be added.Well heres a few pics. Howard.

    Oil Seals

Can anybody help me please. I am having a lot of trouble finding a supplier for oil seals. Ive been to two local suppliers one of them took one look and said no. The other was very helpful but after talking to there supplier they also could not supply. I need the seals for the transfer box, the gear box, and front/ rear axles. They are all for the chevrolet C60S. Ive also tried Dirk. Its driving me mad trying to track these down.
