Bit curious tho...... Shouldn't you be walking everywhere at a rapid rate o knots! Not in a Vehicle!!

Glad to have yet another FERRET owner on side, if your going to the war & Peace show this year, reckon we may have to have a evening parade around the site of all the FERRETs?

You got to the peagant then, Lucky B..... r! I couldn't get time off!!

    :banghead:

  4. Hi Jack,

Well, just a thought really, been thinking about this all day, My Dad was on D-Day +1, so all those years ago, he was probably sitting on some tank landing craft waiting to go over!

He is unfortunately no longer with us but I researched most of his War years and he went ashore on Sword beach but then followed through all the way to Germany.

I am Proud of my Father

I salute all of those guys who had to go through that, they were afterall... Kids 17 -20 odd,

Thanks for bringing these dates to memory for everyone

    Fred

  5. Hi Dave,

We are virtually next door!! I'm in Gillingham, also got a 2/4 ( Good Choice) Also my wife Loves the little beasty!!

As for isolator, Negative lead I believe!!

GCP = Gear Change Pedal ... Beware of False Neutrals!! Will put your left knee somewhere near your left ear!!!

As for electric fuel pump.. May not be needed, If you have problems starting it, check the fuel filter inside behind the commanders seat on wall, it sometimes gets air-lock andyou need to just prime it with a little top up!

I run my old girl for about 15-20 mins once a fortnight ... BUT.. Check the oil in your dynamo first!! Little brass bolt with washer ( Don't Drop it!!) just prime with a few squirts of engine oil then replace the bolt, don't over tighten!!

    Apart from that,

Tell Val to talk to my Mrs.. Annika... She will get her to understand the other girl in your lfe!!Ha Ha! :yay:

Anyway, Welcome to the Hobby Mate,

    Fred

  6. Fred,

I think you might have put the barrel in the wrong way round? I'm sure I spoke to someone else who did this and had to remove it and put another one in!

    Chris

No... Definately went in the right way!! :banghead: There is a small locating lug at the bottom which it has to line up with!

Have now had a e-mail from the seller, got to send him a photo of the key? :nut:

Ah Well, Will try this method before dismantling the switch box ..AGAIN!! did this once before... Definately fiddly!! :argh:

    Cheers folks

    Fred

  7. Thanks guys,

But..... I put the key in and nothing turns, not the key or the outer! :banghead:

Absolutely nothing!! I should have known when it all went in so easily! :argh:

I shall have to drill it if I dont get a reply :oops2:

Any more suggestions most welcome!! I aint looking forward to trying to drill it!!

    All the beast,

    Fred

  9. Sounds like a small plot in the Americas field might be a good place to be then eh! :goodidea:

Will be having a small board in front of the old Ferret, so will also display a HMVF badge on that too

We will be there early on but we won't take up too much space, there will be four of us this year, me n the Mrs n Mark n his Mrs!! ( Should be Interesting!!) Ha Ha! :box:

Really looking forward to it, see you all soon!

    All the Best Folks

    Fred & Annika  :yay:

  10. Hi All

Now, I'm sure there is probably already a thread all about this somewhere already :knockknock:

But.... Is there gonna be a particular area that HMVF members are going to park up? Reason for asking is that we are going down very early that week! But don't want to set up miles away from everyone else :naughty:

We used to park up where we used to have the Chieftain before, but we fancy somewhere different this year, likewise we don't want to nick someone elses regular pitch if we can help it :oops2:

Somewhere over by the Americas field looks better!

    All the Best Folks

    Fred & Annika  :yay:

  11. Cheers Andy, 8-)

...But.... The Mrs would be displaying certain parts of my anatomy from telegraph poles if I was to even think of buying anything else eh! :yawn2:

I think I will keep an eye open at the show this year, and if I can... Next year I may have a go at the old engineering hobby again!!

    Will see what happens! :rtfm:

See you at the Show Mate

    Fred

  12. Hi Andy,

Thanks for that mate, but... I can't afford that sort of outlay, just had to get new Exhaust system for my Bike!!! Set me back abit! :banghead:

I will just have to wait eh! :cofee:

Thanks though, will keep the web-site on my list of favourites though!

    Fred

  13. Hi Richard,

As promised, my Dad and his QL, pictures were taken in Belgium...Somewhere?Hope they come out OK, the mascot was a horseshoe with a cherrub in the middle ( I think he 'found' it in the ruins of France)! Also, the ID Number is only painted on one side? He was with 8 Corps but was attached to 30 Corps for the Market Garden Operation, apparantly if you drove a lorry, you got sent anywhere that supplies were needed!

    All the Best

    Fred

  14. Hi Richard,

Thats the Beauty, will try t dig out that photo and send it, He was on D-Day +1 Sword Beach, all the way through to Germany, in fact, when we were watching the Band of Brothers series, he vertually went everywhere they went! He was also one of the guys who took the boats up to Arnhem... Bridge to Far!! He died when I was about 9, but I have researched his war years, he had a mascot on the front of his truck, he went through the whole War without a scratch, ( It Worked ) but he was being driven home on demob ( Driving Permit ran out Day before!) he was in a smash with another truck at a cross roads and suffered a fracture scull, leg and they burnt him with the cutting equipement getting him out!!

Anyway mate, will be in touch, she really looks good.

    All the Best

    Fred

  15. Hi Mate,

Welcome to the mad house

    I Got one, there Great!!

And its got a Gun

Anyway, enjoy the site and welcome to the Gang mate,

    All the Best

    Fred & Annika

  16. Richard,

Thanks for that mate, mind you they are fitted top n bottom not front n rear, so that got me wondering! Ha Ha! :what:

Also, I noticed on your list of kit, that you have a Bedford QLD... any chance you could show a picky of her? My Dad used to drive a Bedford Ql? through the war from D-Day+1 to 46 but all I have is a photo of him stood by front drivers side wheel and cant see if it is all canvas top or half n half etc.

Just a little curiosity mate?

    Cheers

    Fred
