  1. Does anyone know where I might locate NOS parts to overhaul the water pump on my C8, or even a replacement pump? I need the carbon seal(X.25507), the felt washer(QA.11020) and the main shaft( V.1795). Or the complete water pump (V.16700)
  2. I just had a bit of a setback with the engine. When I topped it up with coolant it sprang more leeks than a German U Boot. All but one have now bean cured. The water pump. Does anyone know where I might locate NOS parts to overhaul the water pump, or even a replacement pump? I need the carbon seal(X.25507), the felt washer(QA.11020) and the main shaft( V.1795). 3. How did this restoration go? I would be interested in how you fixed the water pump and where you got the parts.
  4. Does anyone know where I can get the parts to rebuild my MCC C8 water pump?
  5. It has most of the parts. I know it needs wheels and a hitch for the gun and I am sure there will be more. But its a good start.
  6. Just to go off on a slight tangent now. I have bean spending the last 12-18 months brokering a deal in Australia for some 18 Pdr limber parts and the deal has finally matured. The parts have arrived at my friends house in Australia today. They are still a long way from home but should be hear by the end of the summer. I would say its about 75% complete but once finished the Quad will have a nice rare limber to pull around.
  7. I also need a water drain tap for the right side of the block. and all the guides and clamps for the Accelerator cable. I also need the hand throttle cable too.
  8. Does anyone have any of the following parts? 1. Accelerator cable 2. Carb linkage/rod (ball joint connecter that goes from carb to rocker linkage) 3 steering wheel
  9. Engine in, what a B###h!! I also tensioned the fan belt correctly.
  10. Your almost right Jerry. The book says " Correct tension is obtained when the fan belt can be depressed with thumb and fingers to 1 3/4 at the centre midway between the two pulleys" My belt is far too tight.
  11. Thanks Jerry. I am glad you pointed that out. I tightened it as I thought it should be done and was thinking that the belt was too big! It sound daft but I never thought to check the book. Will take a look now.
  12. Hear it is just before she cracked into life.
  13. Bench tested the Morris quad engine today. She sparked into life for the first time in about 40 years. Sorry no video footage, was farrrrr to excited to think about that.
  14. Water pump checked, and fitted once the broken bolt was removed. Fan belt and fan fitted too. I decided to paint the blades red, it looks very striking next the green. Flywheel cleaned and fitted, new spark plugs fitted and the manifolds were cleaned, painted (with high temp paint) and fitted. The oil filter was cleaned, painted and fitted as was the water jacket cover. This was a bit of a pain as it was distorted from over tightening, I straightened it as best I could and fitted it with a new gasket and plenty of instant gasket, just to be sure. I also polished up some of the brass bits too. Carb, distributor and starter next and then hopefully a bench test. fingers crossed!!
  15. I am looking at getting an Army tent for doing the show circuit and it got me thinking. What tent do other people use and why. Most people go for the 9x9 wolf/command tent but you will pay for a good one. I guess i am wondering if there is an alternatives out there. Maybe a crewman shelter?
  16. The engine so far: New rings and valve springs, 4 new valves. all valves were re ground and the cylinders honed. The dynamo was inspected and tested but not rebuilt. Still a lot to do.Water pump, oil filler tube, oil filter, flywheel, clutch, manifolds, dynamo and distributor still to do.
  17. It's getting there Trevor, thanks for the support. If you squint really hard you can almost make out the outline of the body.
  18. Sorry about the picture quality. But they do show the latest progress with the back body. Had the valves and pistons done at Gala Engineering, hopefully I will be able to pick up the engine next week and start the rebuild.
  19. Yes!!! got it working. There was nothing wrong with it. But it does need good daylight to work. I got a bright flash light and shone it into the small window and adjusted the wheel and there it was. It doesn’t work in poor lighting.
  20. On further inspection it seams that the aiming rig is present. The top of the periscope is divided into two sections. A small window and a large window. The light comes through the small window and is reflected down at 45%. the light then hits an aiming ring. This is a blacked out disc of glass with a circle scratched into it to let a circle of light pass through it (aiming ring). It then travels down through the body of the periscope and hits a mirror. The mirror is set at an angle, this angle is adjustable by turning the wheel on the bottom of the periscope. the aiming ring is reflected at proximately 45% through an adjustable lens and hits a plate of glass on the other side. This glass is permanently fixed at 45%. When you look through the bottom window you can see this glass plate. It is my guess that the lens is meant to focus the aiming ring onto the glass and should appear as a bright ring on the left of the bottom window. I tried to force the ring onto the glass plate but had no luck. Any suggestions?
