  1. Plenty more to see, a field full of Diamond Ts, including this one, that came all the way from Bristol at 25mph & fuel consumptions probably measured in gallons per mile!

    A well-known Cromwell.

    (Right, why's that turned sideways?)

    A lovely Comet

And another one I've wanted to see live, the Valentine DD.

Plenty more to see, a field full of "modern" stuff and plenty of stalls to spend your money on!

  2. Been today. Early doors the weather was proper Yorkshire, ie pissing it down.

Interesting array of vehicles, stalls & reenactors.

Very amusing bit of PE, with spectator participation & being harangued by the kilted sergeant from the "Gordon Highlanders" in the WW1 arena. Followed by a group of "Russians".P7090050.jpg

Highlight (For me), was the first public appearance of John Phillip's StugIIID. Had a good chat with him and he kindly let me & others climb all over it! Needs some fettling, track shortening, gear ratios tweaking & the like, but he's got a toy that's going to give him years of fun!

  3. the problem with the Burma Spitfires is that story never made any sense to begin with. Brand new, as well as used, aircraft after the war were sold to various countries who then used them to have more little wars. There's very few cases where equipment was dumped or buried, and even then it wasn't something as valuable as aircraft ( except for the Saigon evacuation and that was to make room for refugee's).

There's only so many planes a country needs. Look at the massive dumps of US stuff across the Pacific, let alone what remained of the Japanese airforce.

  4. well to this lot, priceless artworks would be a load of shot up panzer iV's and hummels with the original unit insignia and battlefield damage still intact.

I mean what would you rather see, the Amber Room or the worlds 3rd known Ferdinand Tank destroyer, it's a no-brainer. ; )

Rumours a few years ago of a Ferdinand box found in the Ukraine, but no photos to substantiate.

A train of Tigers would be good!

  5. Used as internal security vehicles and airfield defence against partisans and light forces.

Some were converted to carry Nebelwerfers, like these two seen at the Trun scrapyard.
