  1. Always a pleasure (despite the rain) and a privilege to help. Hopefully it will continue and just get bigger and better each year?
  2. There's another thread covering tankfest, with posted pictures, in the meetings log and photobook section, under Regional MV groups / Events / HMVF meet ups.
  3. We were asked by the museum to provide some people in Panzer uniform on the Saturday for some photoshoots on the German armour. I brought my kit just in case and as luck would have it, happened to be in the right place at the right time... Please excuse my inane grin but I guess you know why it's there. I think they're going to photoshop the interior shots to remove the background and roof.
  4. A couple of pictures from the Tankfest. I can't claim the first one as mine as it's from the WWII LHA, but as a member of the association I guess it's ok to post here. I thought it was such a good picture I just had to share it. It's of the panzershrek taking out the stuart tank. One of me ready to set off to blow up the enemy pillbox, looking a little worse for wear from the late night and heavy drinking of the previous day, not to mention the pouring rain all day Sunday.
  5. Yes I've seen that replica before, quite a good job although they made a few minor mistakes with the number of vision ports etc. I've got some interior pictures somewhere too. It was on e-bay a couple of times for a lot of money and I don't think it sold.
  6. I'm going as part of the WWII LHA, and we've been asked to bring panzer crew uniform if we have it, to help crew whatever german tanks might be running. There are rumours of the PzIII and Tiger I and possibly others coming out to play.
  7. Or you can load the image into powerpoint and then just drag the edge to resize it.
  8. Yep that's the one. If anyone knows of a GMC 353 rolling chassis going spare do let me know.
  9. Yes it is a German six-wheeler, a sdkfz 231 6-rad. I've always been interested in them ever since matchbox brought out their kit many many years ago. As a kid I dreamt of having one, only to discover that none had survived (not that I'd be able to afford an original if I could get one). I've been doing research on them for about 5 years now and it seems that they weren't all retired to training schools in 1940. There's even some evidence that some were sent against the 6th Airborne division on D-day as part of the reconstitued 21st panzer division.
  10. I guess I ought to come clean first, before you congratulate me further on the GMC  I'm actually after a rolling chassis which I intend to build a replica armoured car on. The GMC is the closest fit to the vehicle I'm interested in, none of which have survived to modern times. Also if I build on an old vehicle it gets around a lot of the rules and regulations and allows me to drive it on the road. I guess that makes me a bit of a heretic, but at least from the chassis down I'll be preserving a historic vehicle, as well as trying to bring to life a missing link in AFV history.
  11. Just thought I'd say hello and congratulate everyone for the website. I've been doing re-enactment for a few years, and moved into WWII period about 6 years ago (I'll be down at Bovington for the Tankfest this weekend). I've been saving for a Historic Military Vehicle for about four or five years, but the cost of the things :-o keeps on going up quicker than I can save  I was due to get a GMC 353 from France in March, but it couldn't be delivered as the transporter broke down. ETA is now July but I'm not holding my breath.
  12. Hi everyone. I'm waiting, still, for my CCKW to arrive from France.  I expect to have to do a fair bit of work on it when it arrives, but while I'm waiting I thought I'd start some planning & preparation. However I'm lacking any detailed plans and so need some data. Can anyone tell me the width of the chassis at the back and also the width of the chassis members please? Thanks, Brian Â
