Hi John, there should also be a military identity plate on the vehicle that might reveal more detail than the chassis no, if you can find the details from that plate I'm sure someone will be able to help out with its history

These should be a bit better to identify , there was some chassis cut up :cry: and there were rear sections

with double drive a couple with a pair of axles , and one like a truck on the forum getting rebuilt single diff driving through cases ,,

Hi all , Well I was thinking that if someone might have ownd a vehicle that this type of axle was off and how often the wheel nuts should be checked then it would be identified prety quick :cool2: ,

 

I was thinking it was quite narow and the two bars quite thin so maybe C8 ,, when I get chance and now the weather is beter I'll have to arange another apointment to get some more pics and details of what he'll be prepared to sell ,,

 

how about the other pics of whats left of a truck the front wheel ive searched through many threads and have drawn a blank I was thinking pos American ,,,

 

The Guy radiator, I did get a close look and though it had been made with the hole through the way the tubes were formed , but on looking at the pic it may have been altered maybe for a power take off , did not think the tubes were squashed of show signs of penatration ,

I hate rust repairs as I can't weld and have to wait on others for this type of work. Painted half of it in the excitement.

 

Also fitted the winch solenoid, completely under the dash. Now I just have to save up to buy several metres of copper cable.

 

Hi, I find it hard to believe all the work you've been doing and now say that you can't weld , I suppose most of us couldn't at one point ,, Its great to learn I did at an early age , arc eye very bad the next day :cry:

If you had a go on some nice clean steel I find MIG welding very good , ( gas takes to long , arc a bit heavy for thin steel ) just have to remember to keep moving the torch otherwise can blow holes , the cleaner the steel the better , we all wait in anticipation of your welding attempts :-D

Hi all, come on Guys your not doing to well in spotting what the remains of these vehicles are in post 602 there is the rear of a chassis showing , just behind is a driven front axle it has what looks like strengthening bars running from one end to under the diff to the other axle end any idea as to what it might be from ?

maybe the pic does not show quite enough of it , or it was a comonly used axle ,, how about the remains in post 605 someone must recognize those wheels ?

 

this photo shows a Guy radiator I've searched for over an hour trying to find a vehicle that might have an offset radiator or starting handle , I'm thinking thats what the offset hole is for but have not been able to find anything only similar with central starting handle positions ,any ideas ?

I'm not sure what the remains are behind the radiator or if it belonged to it

Looing at the pic of it being draged up the beach it almost looks too clean , even the cassis looks to have a shine to it ,,,,,, ether the photos are old ? its on old cart springs so maybe 1983 or older , if not maybe a Santana

Hi all ,I rebuilt a diesel fordson tractor many years ago and the engine had been left with open manifolds and on removing the cylinder head was in a rite mess the tractor never cost anything so had nothing to loose , first removed the cyl head then the fuel pump , lathed up some alloy bar to fit in the cylinders then made a jig to fit the head bolts , cleaned out the bores one had a bit of rust scale low down so not in the compression others cleaned up quite good with glaze buster , then fill bores with with petrol and a bit of oil and set it alight , I repeated setting it alight 3 times before the jigs would shift the pistons down on one coming up it dragged the liner up 7mm ,, striped the fuel pump right down cleaning all parts ( more parts than in the engine ) the pump needed one plunger and cylinder that I removed from a 6D pump ,, anyhow once back together it did not take to much to get it going and used it for hay making

for 3 seasons it used to smoke a Little from one pot but thought it did well , this morris has had the front covered over and the engine did not look to bad but having said that I've had a couple of engines covered outside next to each other for 24 years on moving these last year I found one was seized the other OK so me being me got a battery and some fuel and had it running on the floor , which reminds me I need to fit it into the International BTD6

 

I'm thinking that the engine in these may be the same as in another Morris as I hear someone on the forum might be looking for one

Hi and welcome ,, I there's a few on here you can tell by the accent , there was one shouting out in the clubhouse last night , somet like wey i man canny bag a tudar I'm just a little south of you but if I go down to Donny the call me a Geordie ,

Its strange what people tel you about and when you get there its nothing like what it should be followed up a lead about an old Canadian Ford gun tractor , only to find it had been used hauling timber through the woods and had a Perkins diesel fitted and more of a box section roll cage come cab ,, then spotting an old truck with a tree growing through it just like the pic in the above post ,, this truck below was so bad that I have taken a photo of the rear wheel , a good chance someone will recognize what the truck might be ,, another truck I've taken a shot of the front wheel as I think there was no rear end

,, Well its good to know there's a good few people that want to help out ,, its not too good that parts aren't available when a lot of vehicles that I've worked on in the past parts not too much of a problem even if it meant getting up at 5am to phone the other side of the World to locate them , A big question at the moment is would the engine or transmission have been used in any other vehicles ? ,,

Stefano it says a lot if your engine had sat for 30 years in the open with the head off

the 6x6 Leyland above I think could be a Crossley , I've been trying to see if the lights were slightly higher than on the Hippo model , It looks to have had possibly a full body up to the windscreen and maybe used as fairground transport ,, there's a couple of things in this pic that might be recognized maybe not whats left of the truck behind the tree or more to the point a tree thats grown through the truck

 

Those pics of the handbook has just answerd a question that I was going to post On the nearside of the Humber ( pos an FV1601 ) why is there a bulge behind the nearside door , well its clearly shown in the pics above ,, carrier for the spare wheel

That is bad! The hardest and most expensive bit to do on that would be the cab and engine panels. You would have to be

a)very dedicated

b)have money and time to burn, or

c) be slightly off your rocker!

 

Good for spares though

 

Didn't think the pictures came out that bad as for the engine panels whats left will be good to work off to fold new ones , I've a good friend with good folding machines as what I have are not up to the job , most of the cab panels for this will be flat folded so I'd think not too bad , Rick did you not notice the missing headlamps

, then you could criticise it, but the owner gets enjoyment from it, which is the main thing.

once over some people would not have thought twice to fit a Morris quad front axle then fit something like a Landy 200TDi engine and box so it'd be a 6x6 What is even worse is the fact that I've got some of them parts

it looks as though it could be used for setting tension , the end would push into the part to tension then tun the part with the numbers on which on the underside will be located into part of a frame or engine case ??
