Hi, thanks for that did not even think to do that

  2. Hi ,Not had chance to get on with the Munga , been trying to find the problem on my Grand Cherokee , Auto slipping in third and 4th something electrical , real head banging stuff replaced speed sensor , govener pressure transducer , pressure solenoid , adjusted internal brake bands , checked throtle potentiometer which I think is ok have no data to cross reference , must be a bad signal coming from a sensor and the transmision control module releasing gear engagement pressure ,

going to have to get it hooked up to a compatible computer to see whats going on , everything OK apart from that :-)

  3. Great stuff Phil, and thanks for sharing it. Could DM stand for' dangerous materials'? Sounds like a more modern term, and for sure that wouldn't narrow things down much back then? Plus nobody cared whether it was dangerous or not, but that's my only guess. The word 'exposed' would suggest that the powers to be were aware it was dangerous and it had to be noted for medical purposes. Decontamination might be more likely....

It is a little strange the way it is worded , I'll go through some more paperwork thats arrived to see what it says , also got to try and sort out some photos

  4. Good explanation on the propshaft joints this should be pointed out more to the folk that put high lift suspension on there 4x4s

so many visits Maybe because its a great project showing in detail how these trucks were built , and many of us could only dream on doing a build like this ,,,, I'll be logging on later as going to take the sons laptop to show my father this thread :-)

  5. What does the entry "exposed to D.M" mean ?

Hi, after looking through some more paper work and cross refrencing the date it looks

like exposed to D.M = Driver Mechanical Transport , just seems a strange way to word it

  6. Hi , you say the " Most of the constituent parts of the Universal Coupling have now been made up to the original drawings" on the drawings does it specify the type of material strength or if case hardened ( if they did that sort of treatment ? ) I know you've used other materials for some jobs for the better just wondered what detail is on the drawings

No, I never have seen one or even a picture in the parts book. I was planning to make a sort of 'C' spanner with two buttons riveted on to engage in opposite slots.

    Steve

Would an angle grinder spanner do this job ?

  7. Hi and welcome, Think it'll have to be a good engine engineering company , are the cranks pressed together like a motorbike crank ? seem to think there was a picture showing one but don't quite remember if the big ends can be unbolted ,

  8. Made a nice job of them wheels , I'm think my splitscreen VW camper came with an odd set of wheels a pair of 16" wheels on the rear from a pre 1955 bus , and a pair of 15" on front ,

On the subject of banded rims I once had a sand rail ( like the fast response vehicle ) not too long ago and took for an MOT and the tester said strait away that he'll not be able to test it unless I change the wheels , aparently they'd been banned , when I removed the tyres they even had a company stamp inside so not a shoddy job , keep up the good work :-)

  9. All to true , I remember moving furniture at my grandparents and found an old brass razor , so went to show my grandparents and my gran hurried me out the room before my grandfather saw it , saying that he'd found it next to a well in Egypt ,

  10. Hi, I'm not to sure what a few things mean , and some of the writing is faded and some wrote like a doctors note "unreadable" , that entry is under Particulars of training ,, what can be read is -xpose- to D.M.
