As many of you know, I have a Humber Pig. I am trying to collect as much bits and bobs of Military era related kit. I have Parachute Regiment covered as my father was in 1PARA. But i would also like to cover the other standard issue equipment. DPM? was there just 80...90....95....and soldier 2000? or was there an easlier type? how can i tell what smock and trousers would be 70/80's? Was the helmet known as a turtle helmet? am i correct? When was the Flak jacket introduced and is there various types? Im basically trying to find the standard kit to be taken into the Troubles..... any help?

ok, can i ask a few things? I know that there are diferences in the pre and post 95 models. The 95 on seems to be just a welded up frame with nothing much of use or interest The pre 95 are what im interested in, But i have a few questions. Can a pre 95 be cocked, chamber a round and dry fire? (inert) some poeple say yes some say no... Also can it be fully stipped? Is the Gas regulator removed? and is the flash at the end welded? I would just like to know the main differences as if i spend alot of money i would like a nice example you can play with:) Also how easy is it to change the furniture? as wood is worth alot more than ABS , but again i have seen the wood for sale quite cheap?

Cliv, The electrical problems are indeed Undergoing repairs, i have taken the switch board apart and made a repair which is not the best but will keep the Pig mobile for the rest of the season and until i find a replacement. Ok what would be the correct way to paint my pig? I am due to strip the Metal back to bare, i have sourced some good cheap paint stripper, 10 litres... and will bare metal and rub down... What would the correct method be? Do i Red oxide, and then go for the main colour? Or is it a base coat, red oxide, another coat then finish? Also, if indeed my Humber Pig was to be period? do i Spray or Brush? I sense many nights soon with a mask and a scrapper! ahoy! :mrgreen:
