  1. I am for my sins a bit of a biker lover...and am a member of the kettle club and emergency help group...the gist of the group is that members who are willing to help in some way provide their contact details and it is published annually on a cardboard sheet for everyone to carry when travelling. SO they can call someone locally and see if they can help the broken down biker if they can...

After hearing about the saladin breaking down just a few tens of miles from me.. I could have saved him a fortune by bringing him back to my place initially Guildford and either him sorting repairs there with my extensive tool kit, or organised proper transport back to his home...

Its just a thought, is anyone else as benevolent as me....or wanting to help...most of you guys always seem real keen to help, I would have really enjoyed myself and i would not charge 1180 quid...ouch...just petrol money please...

I am definitely getting full breakdown cover from now on but it just seems to me people can and do want to help...

any takers...do we start something like this...

  2. nah as much as i would like to, the stalwart is a pain for anything more than about 5 miles on the road, great off road but not on, the 432 too high maintenance to use on road regularly and my ears would not be able to take it, the gaz 69 is without roof right now and not yet registered but maybe....the otheres when registered will be used from time to time but not regularly...and only when i am taking them to a show or off road course, like the awdc one on the 4th October....

  3. Hi Guys anyone going...i will be taking a zil 131 and my stalwart...possibly the star 660...and just maybe a ural 375d...all depned upon transport and paperwork...if I cant get the paperwork done then it will be the stolly only, and maybe one of the zils, or the star 660...anyway anyone else coming...will be real fun on slab common, great place to get stuck and be hauled out...will take all my heavy towing gear...

  4. I have bought an old crappy atlas crane to fit on the back of one of my zils...would not have bought it if i had known the rams were so badly pitted but ho hum deal done...anyway i need an hydraulic pump. I have found a JCB one would it run the thing...I am assuming i need about 200-300 bar would a jcb type pump do it...I cant imagine why it would not, but any advice gratefully accepted...

My zil, has the pto and four point connection, should fit on the end of the jcb drive shaft easily...

  5. I understood the saracen to be the first Armoured Personnel Carrier...official deisgnation and the 432 the first tracked one...the Americans always seem to make the M113 as the first but they seem to have been launched about the same time...not sure of the actual truth of who did what first as the Americans of course did everything first....

  6. there are elements of self certification. These can only really be tested in the courts and this is where you could find yourself if you follow some of the potential routes to self certification. In essence it may be the way to go to test the rules but i do think VOSA and the DVLA have way too much power and if they find someone who seems to be flaunting that then they will use every rule they can to interpret their own rules in a way that makes us seem like criminals...

The mot FOR CLASSIC vehicles could be very simple...as long as the use is not commercial, ie being used to transport goods or people for reward...I think you will find thinks are easy enough....

I have not completed my process to find out what really happens locally in my area but I hope to have that soon.

Sorry i am not overly willing to copy confidential information from VOSA on here....so if anyone wants to see stuff you will need to PM me...

  7. sure they dont...czech dealers are fine...just make sure you agree with them what you are getting...they are not generally too badm if they were they would be out of business...even withams can be good sometimes...not seen it myself but I am told they can be...if anyone wants any help I am off to czech hungary and polish lands in a few weeks...

  8. I've had some good stuff in the tender sales, but you need to really check what you're buying and bid accordingly. If you're not prepared to take a risk, then don't bid in the tenders!

agree for sure...but seen too many of their tricks played out..I agree that you can get some good but i prefer now to buy direct...if you can...plus its too far from Hampshire...
