Thank you for that information Ian. I will chase them up in a few weeks. Too many other things happening at present.
Rick, The BKT pattern is the same pattern Olympic used to make uptil about 5 (?) years ago, so you might get lucky in Australia. From what I have heard they are/were used on crop sprayers.
Lovely work on the trailer Guy.....and brilliant work on the fenders! I would love to hear how you did those.....do they have the edges folded and a wire inserted? One day I will have to make a set for my Chev C8, so would love to hear about your experience.

The closed cab one seems to have a long chassis.....maybe a rare long wheel base Canadian T975(?)...it seems to be too long to be a T 970.

A Lexus going too fast in the opposite direction :-(If you know for a F60 rolling chassis we are looking....
>:(the worst nightmare for any MV owner!
now I understand the other thread with the request for an F60 chassis. I think the best idea I have at the moment would be to mate the front end of an F60S LAAT chassis to the rear of the F60L wrecker. The front end to the transfer case should be the same for both. Chassis rails on the F60L are "double" if I am correct, making mating frame rails less difficult(?).
I don't now of any spare F60L chassis available, but it wouldn't hurt asking LWDParts and Staman trading.

This is how the poor old thing looks today
The old Scammel does look poor...but what about the CMP wrecker? What happened there?

Tony,
Good to see you have started on the project. Did you manage to get in toach with the (ex?) owner of the other trailer?

Lovely work Guy. This thread is already starting to get just as enjoyable as your QL log.
Are you using the Renault paint again?

The 1942 parts list quotes both 4 and 6 blade fans interestingly with different sized pulleys and belts with different part numbers.
Interesting. I was just looking at this last week, when looking for the water pump parts number and indeed noticed the different fans. My C8 also has a 4blade fan.

I've not heard of Eric Delacom for years, I tried to buy the C60 off him at one time but we couldn't agree a price unfortunately so I have no idea as to whereabouts of the Belgium one.
Pete, same here; I seem to remember Eric (Delcommenne?) had a CMP website at the time as well. I did see his name a few years ago on the vendor list for Wings and Wheels in Ursel, Belgium.
Howard; it really looks like you have a very complete truck in nice condition; well done!
Thanks for the picture showing the air intakes next to the grille

Your right Alex it is a 3C1 body very rare indeed I know of only one more and that was in an unrestored state in Belgium.
Such a lovely body! Pete, there was another unrestored one in Norway. If I remember correctly the Belgian as well as the Norwegian one were complete, but I have no idea where they went. There was a third in Holland, but the rear boady was cut down. But.....this truck did retain it's curved rear wheel arches. It was for sale for a while, but I think it never sold and should still be there.
I'd also recommend the maple leaf up forum that's were most of the worlds CMP guys hang out.Agreed! The 3C1 bodies recently came up on MLU: http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=23133&page=2
That's another rare truck, Pete!I'm afraid my son beat you to them for his 12 cab C15A bowserAlex

Howard,
Dirk Leegwater has the headlights available NOS, as well as the Rubbolite rear lights as Pete pointed out....also Mirrors and NOS oval shaped plates for the fuel tank. www.lwdparts.com
I think Chris Camps (Ferret) here on HMVF also has the Rubbolite lights available as well as NOS mirrors.
Can I ask if you can take some pictures and maybe some measurements of the "funnels" behind the round vents next to the grille, when you get to disassembling the front? The funnels on my Cab 11 are completely gone and have no idea what it should look like.
Nice, I see you also have the three switches next to the dash cluster; sadly all three missing on mine!

Yes they are all the sides and tailgate, just got to get a new head board fabricated, this is missing, also need to see where the spare wheel is suppose to go, i think behind the cab.
Howard; good to hear you also have the sides and tailgate!
It's hard to see in the pictures; but it looks a lot like a rare 3C1 QMG body. Someone in the past might have moved the body backwards a bit (and filled the space above the rear wheels to create a flat floor), but I think all 3C1 trucks left the factory with run flat tires and no spare wheel.

That's a nice truck Howard. Good to see you will be working on another Canadian vehicle. Looking forward to the first updates.
Are those the body side panels laying flat on the back?

Very, very nice work Simon. Those markings really finish it off.

Thanks John, for posting these. This brings back memories. We visited Armycars with our scale modelling club....judging from the vehicles I see in the movies, our visit must have been in the same year! I am guessing a few months later, as they were still occupied with the Pacifics at the time.
When we were there, most of the (Italian?) Diamond T 980 and 981's had gone, as well as the Rogers trailers (and the Italian copies). There was a row of completely restored M1A1 wreckers....I think about 20 or so, with consecutive numbers.
One room was completely filled with GMC cabs, or actually crudely cut front halfs of CCKW's, must have been 50 or so.
I see some familiar vehicles in the movies that formed the base for the Marshall museum later on. So "one of each"(?) is now on display at the museum in Overloon.

Yes please, the more information I can gather so much the better. Do you have any documentation as well?
Tony, John, I had to dig deep to find the pics on the computer, but here they are. No real detail pics I'm afraid! I have no documentation on the trailer sadly, but I have an email-address of the owner (ex-owner?) of the trailer in the pics. I will send it by PM.
Hi Alex,I think I found them on the web somewhere, so am sure you are right. Hope you don't mind me posting them on here?
Don't worry John! No problem here. I think I posted them on MLU at the time. I can send you the full size images by email, if you send your email-address by PM

This one was in the Netherlands. Photographed at Ginkel Heath in Sept 2004, another useful reference. Although can be seen to have missing righthand rear storage box:
John, I think those are my pictures. I might have some more of the same trailer if they are of any use (?)

KN-14-43 looks like a Dutch Licence plate. 502 Genie Herstel Compagnie (Repair/Maintenance of Engineers equipmen) seems to have been based in Alphen aan de Rijn.
Have you found any other remains of markings?....I think I see a "C" above the "N" (?)

then formed this joggled edge to end up with something close to this -
That is lovely work! Well done.

Ah, someone in it's past has added Ford components (that's a Ford part number).
A number of cab parts of Chevrolet cab 11's and 12's were made by Ford, or at least used the Ford part number and not a GM number. This is a factory fit and is also confirmed in the parts manual. I also found Ford part number on my Chev C8 cab 11 on the cast brace holding the radiator, and I think also the windscreen frame and mirror arm.

Rick,
Overloon also has an AVRE with 95mm, Cromwell, a number of carriers and other rare kit as an A30 Challenger, Valentine Bridgelayer, Crusader Gun tractor. Well worth a visit!
The Conger project was done about 6 years ago; as far as I know it's the only surviving Conger. Carrier, armor plate and tank are original, the rest had disappeared over time and had to be remade based on info from pictures and valuable info supplied by Nigel Watson.

Jacek,
I think the brass plate is from an engine rebuild, not the production. The "TBRA" prefix dates the engine as a 1940. (could be the original engine for your truck). I am with Louis on the "245" on the brass plate; feb 1945. I presume that's when the engine was rebuilt.
Alex
-
Jacek,
Engine prefix "TBRA" point towards a 1940 build date of the engine...so, it could well be the original engine for your truck. My Chev C8 is also from 1940 and has a "TRA" prefix, which seems to be a unique prefix for the 8cwt.
I can't help you with the info on the brass plate though.

Awesome vehicle. Martyn, congrats on the purchase.......good to hear you also managed to secure the Bofors!
