  1. hi bud sounds like a plan how do we go about assessment costs etc
  2. did a little more over the weekend, flap disc have been a godsend, grill off saved the two Yankee blackout lights new fuel pump fitted with plugs and leads, i am however seriously thinking of sending out either the tub or the complete rolling power train out for repair, anyone know of Midland based people to undertake the work, i would prefer to do the tub and body panels here, and the rest sent away, also any idea of costs .
  3. Cheers bud, any brand suggestions, 40/60 grit. i will get some ordered to try as another option rather than grinding disc, mate at work says they are easier to use although you can get through a lot quite quickly Steve. ps, hope things are going well your end.
  4. Looking for some to build the Sherman Fury for me bud how you fixed. im far to busy with the Willys.
  5. Afternoon folks, moving onto my fenders now, the driver side is a little tatty with a few bubba repairs where he has left a few high spots of weld after repairs, is there any personal preference between grinding disc or flap disc, i have grinding disc here a guy at work said flap disc are easier to use, has anyone tried them if so can you suggest a decent brand please. Steve
  6. Thanks Jerry new leads and plugs arrived as well as another fuel pump, bit of a bind at the moment feeding fuel fuel via a can to move the old girl back and forth to give me a little space, the good news is my father in law is responding to cancer treatment and able to visit me and give advice hopefully progress will speed up.
  7. Jerry the AC45 plugs i have sourced have the code 45F, Do you know if that is the correct fit, seller has no idea, thanks again Steve.
  8. Thanks guys, mine is a standard 12 volt key to coil jobbie, so i guess i wouldnt need silicone leads, the old girl is being moved on weds to my house, nothing special just a enclosed car port behind gates with a clearance of 5" either side the driveway however is quite wide so hopefully i can do some work there, very envious of the workshops you guys have.
  9. thanks guys, ordered one set of Champion and a set of Autolite, any decent suppliers of HT leads? Have to say Jerry that re build looks fantastic.
  10. Cheers bud, its weird most of the feedback was Champion were not that good the two i mentioned came out top, i think the AC ones run hotter to prevent fouling although others said they can cause serious engine damage. Also noted you are very close to me, have you used anyone locally to do any work for you.
  11. Hi guys a little quite on here lately, i am looking for plug advice G503 forums mention these as suitable has anyone tried them.
  12. Thats quite a treck then bud and pretty sore on the old rump, i am still a long way from such journeys but will hopefully carry a box full of spare parts just in case, and was wondering what the common issues are, coils, lights, etc.
  13. Lovely images, what is the longest single journey you have completed, did you encounter any problems.
  14. Camt thank you enough Jerry that great, i spent hours trying to reveal it, would this followed or started by an `S`. Also 8 numbers is that correct always thought there was 7. Steve
  15. as promised the yellow paint, this is on top of the inner screen but has been evident on the hood and outer screen, now covered with red oxide.
  16. Hi guys could anyone help me to estimate my hood number please, after careful paint removal no numbers where evident although this is an original hood, anyway the main details of this MB are engine number; MB566495 VIN;432030 DOD;04/03/1945 like everyone else i would like to have a unique number for my old girl, thanks in advance. Tried G503 forums no luck there.
  17. Cheers guys, map gas gives more heat than butane and propane, the dent i have is quite large and gives the typical `oil can` effect i guess either gas or disc could work and may well end up trying both, when the dent is lets say relaxed it tends to have the high point inside the hood, i can pop it back out but the slightest touch sends it back, so when when shrinking should i put heat where it is relaxed? thanks for all your help and advice guys it really helps.
  18. Guys, i have some nasty dents in the hood and wish to try heat shrinking, will butane heat the metal enough for it to work. Steve
  19. Totally agree with Jerry, you ought to see some of my efforts, its easy to go out buy a repro tub etc, i am sure many if not all on here have and continue to make mistakes, my tub is a bit scary for me but i will have a go at it.
  20. i have the filter brackets attached already, also a 12v regulator that is working fine, the fuel pump i have on now is the glass type, i dont know if these were ever on my MB, they were in the storage bins, if they are the correct parts someone may want to refurbish them ive got enough on with it atm, how are you getting on with yours bud this forum seems a little quite just lately.
  21. getting rid of some old parts that arrived with the Jeep, regulator, fuel pump, air cleaner bracket no idea if the are original or not or even if they work thought Ebay maybe a good option, any thoughts.
  22. Socket arrived today, first class service. One question the socket has no visable makers mark i did not know there was a after market product made is this the case. part number WO-A-6019.
  23. The socket available from Staman.
  24. That looks almost new, is it authentic, never heard of this seller but looks very well priced. Steve
  25. Thanks bud, i have messaged both, there is on on Evilbay atm although US shipping would be painful if i was successful with the auction, once the tub is off i will be looking for a rotisserie (ideally rental would be good) although this stage is a while away yet. Steve
