  1. Quick one folks, finding one or two bits and bobs that will require a metallic filler, any suggestions? still on the lookout for a trailer socket, as rough guide what price should i look for between genuine and repro. Thanks folks,,,,, i`m still enjoying what time i get with the MB.
  2. Hi guys, anyone know of dealer selling trailer plug sockets please. Steve
  3. I have had traces yes, as for the handle i will shoot some detailed pics, currently removing the old weather strip time consuming to say the least. Thanks for checking what is slow progress.
  4. I understand laser welding is an option but very expensive, being stripped already should help cost wise, it must be damn frustrating for you pretty much in limbo with, like you say it is a early one and well worth keeping. and here i am moaning about rubber windshield seals, my can of worms has not been opened as yet.
  5. Cheers guys advice taken on board, good luck Chris gawd knows how much a strip and re build would cost unless any members would help you out for a little pocket money.
  6. Wow a proper can of worms then, how do you plan to tackle it.
  7. Chris i am at the other end of the scale mine runs nicely enough i do not know if it was rebuilt, should i strip it down anyway or flush it out clean oil and let it run, like you maybe a repair shop job. i could try it myself never done it, but it may then cost more for someone to put it right.
  8. Christ, looks nice that, is this all going on a repro tub? thought i saw a dip stick on evil bay the other day
  9. Very nice for Jeeps etc https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wooden-Army-Ammunition-Box-Weathered-Military-Re-enactment-Willys-Jeep-Vintage/223897268269?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  10. Got a few hours in here and there, windshield stripped down body mounting brackets removed, just waiting for a few bits to arrive to repair bottom panel. inner screen needs a couple of small repairs ( any tips to remove the perished rubber) both inner and outer treated with KURUST, starting to clean up the fender should be able to salvage this i think, wood still in bottom of hat channel
  11. Fantastic, i am repairing my inner windscreen , a long long way behind you bud, but looking through this thread gives hope.
  12. Yes, it is also time consuming, but no rush it is done when it is done.
  13. Need to get a regulator etc and a decent mask, yes bud at the moment it is all body work for me once done roll out the chassis and running gear, i would like to keep as much originality as possible all to easy to go and buy a new tub but if you can preserve the history down to the last bolt if possible,
  14. Back on topic? finally ordered a Mig welder i have gone for the best of both worlds https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clarke-MIG106-Gas-No-Gas-Dual-Purpose-MIG-Welder/303140112408?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  15. I would like to see the bodywork renovation, have you already done it.
  16. Nice work Jerry i am sure i could use some of your services at some stage, i am at a point where the engine runs fine, gears select well etc, should the be stripped and re built for the sake of it, this will be a call down the line as at the moment it is body bit by bit for me so maybe i could do that and send the rolling chassis and drive train out. Wire harness arrived from MV very well put together but lacks the diagrams again something i will tackle further down the road. on the plus side the screen inner and outer are coming on nicely.
  17. Great work guys they certainly look the part.
  18. Anyone want to share bodywork pictures, this is where i am at, bonnet dent removal, fender work, windscreen work etc, the mechanics are further down the line.
  19. Hi bud mine is from MV too direct, they are aware of import cost and greatly reduced the value to decrease this, the set complete with a full set of clips came in just shy of £300, i am a long way from using it but can get you some pictures it is due to arrive Monday Steve.
  20. Done a little bit after work today finally remove those welded brackets on the outer frame, cleaned most of the outer frame up, one bit (pictured ) has gone through in the middle section thinking of forming a piece to go over it also removed the hard top bar, first time with a disc cutter i have feeling lots more practice will be on the way, ps, i know i need to tidy the cut areas.
  21. Is that one for you Jerry or a customer request. Are you doing the tub? Gearbox, be aware of this dodgy parts https://forums.g503.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=315827

  23. Cheers, i have heard good and bad with both so if get dual one i have both options, i do not have a workshop as such here a long space down the side of my house with car port etc and use of a garage at my daughters i have also put a reasonable amount of money aside to help with repairs etc but would like to try do as much myself as possible. I am sure as a novice my welding will look like cow s""t opposed to the bird stuff until such time i get used to it but trail and error hey guys we all start somewhere.
  24. Ah the welding topic, i need to get one that is nice and user friendly. run off a 13amp socket (100ish amps i guess) and a dual operation option, gas/gasless so i have the best of both worlds if needed i will not be doing anything industrial with so a small rig would suffice, any ideas?
