  1. Pioneer section looks great Jerry.
  2. Lovely set up, what do the new neighbours think of your collection
  3. Totally agree here, we could have left a little of the original floor which due to being thin would have needed patchwork sooner or later pity but common sense tells me it's the best thing to do, hopefully the floor will marry up to the chassis with out any issues.
  4. Only joking bud, remember to order rear hat channel and anything else we need from jeeparts-uk.co.uk, they should send the inner tubes too, sue was dealing with that not wife number two.
  5. Fantastic, looks like a different jeep already, hope you're not on double bubble on Sundays.
  6. Fantastic Jerry that radiator looks like new, the rims cleaned up really well, do you want me to order those bits? Thought that rear channel give up.
  7. Well they have not fallen off, my first welding attempt was with a Clarke 106 mig, i fiddled with the settings for a while and found 2 on minimum was ok , wire speed was a 6, i only had the fluxcore option as i still have not ordered any gas and regulator it seemed fine at tacking and i went back and filled the gaps, pics tomorrow once i have tided it up. regards the inner frame bracket one threaded hole is oversize the fits lovely.
  8. Combat rims ordered Jerry, they will be with you next week.
  9. Thanks bud I'll have another go tomorrow, the thread was loose fitting, regarding pulling the other out its solid so may put some heat on it.
  10. Thanks Jerry, if we can save it that's great. Still waiting on cliff for the rims, tyres could be with you anytime soon.
  11. Thanks Chris I have two of those, so the threaded fitting present needs to be removed, I tried one of the mushroom head screws in the other correct bracket it didn't tighen up though.
  12. A little tinkering does this look right, amazing a little info there is, remember these were not assembled when I got it, all fixtures are temporary while I try to get the fit right , this one has the threaded fixture on inner bracket?
  13. the other inner screen bracket has a threaded fitting, which is correct
  14. Seems to sit ok, grinder and 40 grit flap disc, as suggested dry fit required, now let's get the other off
  15. Cheers bud no worries about the glass there ain't any, these are going to be the first things I've ever welded, could be fun.
  16. Ok guys time to remove outer frame brackets, I'm thinking cutting through as close to the tube as possible then grind/sand to profile ready for the new ones, as anyone done this before
  17. Hi folks a bit weird having two topics topics about the same jeep maybe a moderator could merge them, anyway I have some bits here outer screen has additional holes to be plugged whats the best way? They are through going and if someone could ring which holes should remain i would be grateful.
  18. If they are good enough for new cars why not older ones too?
  19. Thanks Jerry, they are looking good.
  20. An update to the MOT inspection manual now means classic car owners who have had LED bulbs fitted to their vehicles will fail their test. The new clarification will apply to modern classic vehicles and those who still opt to get their car checked despite already being exempt as a historic vehicle. The MOT inspection manual states halogen units "should not be converted" to use HID or LED bulbs. LED lights cannot be fitted anywhere else on your historic vehicle unless the bulbs meet ECE standard 128 and ECE standard 148. However, few bulbs available on the market meet this standard making them illegal on UK vehicles. The manual said: "Existing halogen headlamp units should not be converted to be used with high-intensity discharge (HID) or light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs.
  21. Thanks Jerry, hopefully this restoration will bring you more work in from people like myself, I could have tried to do it made more of a mess and cost me twice as much .
  22. It's a bit weird, I think MBs changed in the fall of 1944, so how many are running around with the earlier fitment, you would have thought there would be a market for them.
  23. The only full sets i have seen are in the US, postage is a killer.
  24. Ok bud, are these the tyres we discussed, speedway 600/16, plus tubes flaps etc, are the wheels now in stock?
  25. Well I guess it was better than none, hopefully the grease has had some protective valve, those combat wheels sounded a challenge are they original rims Jerry
