  1. Hi everyone - many thanks for all your messages:) I have passed the details onto Bob tonight-in typical Bob fashion when I spoke to him earlier today he was already starting to rip out all the fire damaged material. We will post any further requests for bits or advice as he needs them :-D Thanks again everyone-he is determined to be out for the start of the season. A lesson for us all - do not answer phone when welding or leave for a cup of tea !!!!! . If we get pictures of damage we will post them !
  2. Can anyone help. My friend Bob owns Doughty XSU765 on page one of the Leyland Martian thread. He had a cab fire yesterday. He is looking for a picture of a Martian in similar condition with a price as proof of value for his insurance. He will also be looking for parts and advice on the best way to put the damage right. To say he is completely gutted would be an understatement. Any help any of you guys could offer would be greatfully received and passed on. Thank you.

  4. so east sussex is nowhere near London, whot way do you go :???
  5. Hi 6x6 The sand coloured scammell was nicknamed LSU because of her reg-sorry cannot remember rest of reg. It was brought by a chap and went London way. She still gets to GDSF in the military section. There are pictures on this thread from Croc-she it still sand coloured. Rally season I am always tanking up and down the 303 picking on anything I can catch!!. Efnick has just been sold again for the second time in as many years and is now also heading London way. I would love to take her back to black but have struggled to find cheap paint! Green is cheap and plentiful.
  6. Good evening Mr Germany (and Tina!!) Hope you are well. Ian is totally addicted to the truck porn on site and I am his b**ch typing uploading etc!! Hows the front axle coming along - any joy? We went we looked and we came away as it was too bloody cold to be messing with bits of explorer !! Take care Ian and Laura P.S have a thread with some pics if you want to look!

  7. Hi here are a few pics There is one of after a dirty weekend in Avon Dasset (the truck not the wife - a man has prorities):cool2: There are a couple of engine changes - one is changing a Merc to a FL7 in an explorer called Efnick. The other is one of mine just after the 2nd TL12 was fitted. There is one of Thors engine - what a beauty There is one of my son and I in 2007 at West Bay - I have started him young with checking the water in the radiator. This year we are working on training him to grease the prop. He is small enough not to bang his head !! There is one of me with the truck after being done up and renamed thor - that was 2004 - that year she blew the walking beam and I have done the bear minimum since and she has run as sweet as a nut.:n00b:
  8. Hi - I own an explorer and sturggle to drive a computer Can anyone tell me how to get the photos from the album on my CP to here so that all you lot can see them Thanks - scratching head and will get hammer to the computer in a minute !! well it fixes the truck 80% of the time
  9. Hi guys - thanks for the replies - nice to feel so welcome. 6x6 - yes have done Noggin Natter up to a few years ago. Myself, my cousin with his explorer and gps No Nuts with his explorer used to toddle across! I haven't done it since my son was born but am hopeful now hes big enough to be strapped to the seat with a rachet strap, shackle etc to be there this year. I have a keen interest in landrovers owning a defender up to the said son. Now a disco owner but trying to make her look as little like a standard disco as possible !! I am hopeful to purchase a series this year for the lady wife to drive to the shows! New toy - lovely!. GMC - holy mother it would bring me out in a rash !! Have you thought about a diseal lump (I will duck behind something now) Exporers seem very popular and am glad to hear I am not the only one mad enough to own one and have it keep breaking on me. I am getting the pics of bits of broken Scammell and mine in its many shades of green (oh god does she need a respray) ASAP. Am not a keen photographer so when shes been broken no pics! Must mend and get angry with her when broken not photograph. Have some old ones of a few engine changes on mine and an explorer called Efnick put the volvo FL7 into Efnick and TL12 into mine - not sure how they will scan - if they are any cop will upload them. Will also scan in a photo of her when she was Nightmare to see if she rings any bells with any of you!! Feel free to chat back !!
  10. Hi gps - success in uploading the photo-will get some more up soon! Thanks for the technical support mate we nearly went mad !! Your thread is lookin good. Have started my own but may have posted it as a blog by mistake-woops! Speak soon mate
  11. Hi everyone - I have nearly gone mad trying to get set up but think I may be there now !! (well need to be a bit mad to own an Explorer) Apologies if I have put any info in the wrong place-think I have done it right:shocked: I live in Dorset and have owned my truck for ten years - she is Thor OSJ698 1954 Scammell Explorer. She has a Leyland TL12 fitted. You may recognise the Reg as she was Nightmare and black for a few years (well running gear problems earnt her that name !!) What more can I say am really enjoying looking around the site !! :cool2: Will get more pictures and bits up as soon as I get some more will power !!
  12. Hi gps-likin your blog. I am here - what are you lookin at? Gods workshop looks a little white and damn cold at the moment -no respray this weekend !
  13. Meadows Petrol was weighed in a long time ago!! It has been hard work but worth it when I am caning her to a rally !!
  14. Hi GPS - this is a big site and it can be hard to find people!! Why is your truck called No Nuts?
  15. Hi Andy - how long have you got Brought truck with meadows petrol with head gasket gone so fitted a tired leyland 680 lump. Oil pump blew as shims were in the wrong way. Rear prop shaft broke and bent pinon so brought a scapper for spares and replaced pinon and prop. Changed engine to TL12 with big end gone - alot of work for nothing!! Got another TL12 which is in there now - she sounds as sweet as a nut will try to get some audio for you. Then gear box began to protest - 1st no pressure then front mount and then it dismantled itself on rally field!! nursed home and put another gear box in which screamed it nuts off in top. Put another in which was the same so checked clutch - double plated clutch centres rivits worn so put new clutch and third gear box has been good as gold! Then wallking beam snapped a tooth on half shaft gear which locked it up so fitted walking beam gears from the scrapper but had problems pulling the hubs so had to swap left to right on hubs. Alot of work!! These are the highlights-I have also had all the usual explorer niggles !!
  16. Hi Daz76 - Have owned truck for ten years and have been from Stoke to Ardlingly to your part of the world and back again. Very spooky as my truck has Leyland TL12 which was the AEC760 block - she purrs like a kitten! Am sorting pictures at the moment and will get them on soon as possible. Know little of her history except she came from British Areospace Dynamics group as was on the door and was parked in a barn in Taunton for ten years. Have had numerous problems with running gear which are now mainly sorted (touch wood). Body work has been good up to now but she could do with a little lovin in that department. She sits in Gods workshop so its hard to do!
  17. Hi - I am new to the site. I own the Scammell Explorer OSJ 698 Thor - it has been discussed with the wrong Reg (wrong reg no OSJ 693) so thought I would put a quick message on to let you guys know !!:cool2:
