  1. Hi - Here some pictures of Doughty on the road to recovery. Still looking for.... Air wiper motors Switch panel - ignition, starter, lights - standard to most military vechiles The wiper regulator valve Trailer brake lever assmbley and valve Passenger seat backs Turrett padding :coffee: Bob is working very hard and hopes to have her on the rally field ASAP - he must have a serious lust for the rust !!
  2. Here is some utter filth !! Avon Dassett in the nineties A dirty dorset - there are ten in the line up but the camera could not get them all in Hope you enjoy the photos - a better explanation of all the photos is on my thread in intros and welcomes :
  3. Hi here is LSU when she was green Here are some of Efnick back in the nineties. Here is No Nuts (GPS) as found
  4. YSY249 - pictures from where found and being pulled out. One went for spares and this is YSY249 being done up.
  5. Here one that I scrapped for spares from severn beach recoveries. It was being taken to the scrapyard to be gas axed - the spares have kept mine going for many years:)
  6. Hi - here is a few picture of my truck through the years repairs and engines There is one of her with the meadows in There is one of the back axle and diff out The TL12 being fitted
  7. hi gps thor is on XL not MX so people dont get confused
  8. Hi Andy-yeah of course - it took a while to get the photos, scan and sort them. Now thats done they are much easier to post !
  9. Hi - mine was in the passenger side bulk head and would play me up and loose lights. The now lady wife was shocked when on the first rally together I handed her a hammer and told her to hit the box in front of her if the lights went out - well its easier for the passenger than trying to do it while driving  I tried with no success to sort it. Mine was relocated to the nearest hedge and directly wired instead. No problems
  10. No Nuts leave trenches with all the blasat you carry !!
  11. Right - for those of you into utter flith here a few for you. Avon Dassett in the late nineties - lots of mud and loads of fun !! Dirty Dorset - 1998 - the first year mine was there - we think there is ten in the line up camera not big enough.
  12. Here a few more from the archives !! Efnicks engine - a merc Efnick on the back of LSU when purchased Efnick with a rim rusted to the hub- she is on the bank with the wheel nuts off being hit with a sledge hammer to get it off - it worked. There are two of LSU when she was green playing at Stanton Drew a good few years ago now No Nuts - when first back from Wales and hit wiltshire (GPS owns her now)
  13. Right - here are some of my cousins explorer - he was the man responsible for me bying one. This is YSY249 and another found as pair near Dorking in the mid 90's. The other one went for spares.
  14. Here are some pictures of the scrapper I picked up from severn beach recoveries. Used and abused by the time I got it the back chassis had been gassed out and the front ripped off from heavy winching. Wish I had taken a few pictures when I picked her up - she had a tree growing up between the front axle and it had bent the track rod. She went to the local scrap yardyard and was gassed up and her spares have been used to keep mine going As you can see she was in a bad way.
  15. Heres a few of my truck through the years engines and resprays. One with the original meadows in Then there some with it out and a 680 going in Then with the back axle out and diff out Then the TL12 (the dud one - all that work and the sodding thing blew within 50 miles big end went - gutted ):argh: We are still trying to track down some of gear boxes and walking beams and clutch behaving badly - if I find them I will post them !!:cool2:
  16. I looked high and low for bar grips for years and in the end went onto Michelin XL - Now there on I like the look of them and you have a much better ride to the crossplys. You don't get flat spots when parked up for a length of time. £500 for eight you can't really go wrong. A few years ago at GDSF I was told by a chap that he had a load of good quality bar grips. I chased him hard as we all know how hard they are to get hold of - finally he admitted that what he had were only good for a silage clamp. :argh: By this time I was out of options so had to move to the ones I have now. I know its not orignal but you just can't get them:) On a slightly different note - does anyone know how to upload video footage ??:
  17. Sorry you will all have to turn your head sideways for that last photo - either that or drink ten pints and then look !!
  18. Hi Here are a few more pics of my truck. One was taken in 2001 after she had just had her respray to black and had been named Nightmare - as you can see she is looking very tidy and a little bit menacing :cool2: The other two were taken this weekend after a little drive to get my son used the the TL12 again - cried then laughed and then waved and remained very happy even after we broke down with some diesal problems !!! As you can see the elements have really taken their toll on the paint work she now resembles a dulux colour chart for green !! Top job for the spring a respray to one shade of green !! (weather permitting) I am working on pictures of when I had the back axle and diff out and maybe a wrecker I brought for spares (I promise you she was too far gone to do anything with). How do you put up video got the lady wife to take some on the digitial camera at the weekend but cannot seem to get it up onto the thread. Thanks and enjoy:)
  19. Dear GPS - thanks alot for your roadside assistance today - if Ian will drive the truck hard she will protest and stop!! She is tucked up and feeling much better now - good job we made it through the traffic calming before breaking down (diesal problems) or we would have caused a major traffic jam in no time at all !!:cool2: Oh well - do we look like we care - she has tax on her and has as much right as anything else to breakdown !! Your trooper and bailer twine would have done the business if we had of needed a tow home :cool2: From the wife and boy (how do you stop a three year old rewiring the cab while your husband is bleeding the engine up - woops he didn't know that !!):
  20. Regarding youngguns clutch I have a double plated clutch in mine - when I fitted it, I did not worry about the tube for the thrust bearing. So a little bit of play between the thrust bearing and tube shouldn't be any trouble. Mine has been without the tube for eight years and other than rivet wear due to an old clutch I have had not problems with the thrust bearing. :-\:
  21. Bobs Leyland Martian - the shopping list !!:coffee: Windscreen and frames top and bottom driver and passenger Passenger side quarter light window Near side rear sliding window These need to come from a recovery not a cargo or artillary Also ... Switch Panel Dash Assembly - speedo etc. Two air wiper motors Two passenger seat backs Air pressure gauge Low air warning light Trailer Brake valve Transfer box knob Steering Wheel Turret insulation Welder (no just kidding) Bob thinks thats the lot but if anything else comes up we will post it.:
  22. Bobs Leyland Martian Fire - the photos - please note this may not be suitable to anyone with a sensitive disposition, heart problems etc. As you can see he has not done a half hearted job !! Bob has had a contact of Richard Bannister for some parts but cannot find his website anywhere. Do any of you know this man, are him or know how we can contact him - Thanks :cool2: There is also a picture of the main winch gear box that one of the castings has broke on. Not sure which one but does anyone have any ideas on parts !! Thanks for all your help
  23. hi gps i do remember this whats that in the background was that a sunny day?
  24. Hi - do any of you lot have little people you need to attatch to the seat for rally runs :cool2: I have an excitable three year old who is now in a booster seat - I am thinking of getting an old style seat belt (series etc) to fasten him in with but am having real problems getting hold of one. Do any of you know where I can get one from :??? Or do you have ideas as to how to attatch modern car seat to old truck so it is fixed, explorer brakes do not make the front of the truck dive enough to make modern seat belts lock :??? - although being hit by another explorer does but that is a whole other story Wife is anti shackles and rachet straps and rear end collisions !! Suggestions greatfully received ?
