  1. Sounds like you have a plan and sounds like you have a ball park figure. I have talked about this width restriction and some say they have managed to do it, and some say it can't be done. From my dealings with DVLA it does appear to depend on who you talk to. Good luck with your abbot would be very interested find out how it goes
  2. Being road registered will save you some work or in my case 6 months of frustration. But the sites I listed before will show a dealer price. I am afraid like most thinks it is worth what you want to pay. Sometimes if you wait a better bargain may come up.... sometimes the price only seems to go up ... in my opinion (like that get out clause). Have you thought of asking an old hand to see it with you? I had a few volunteers when I was looking to go with me.
  3. selling or buying? you might want to look at milweb or Marcus Glenn or tanks-alot.co.uk they all seem to have vehicles for sale.
  4. I have a spartan parts list that shows periscope, armoured vehicle; no 42 MK1,FV593751, but can’t measure to confirm

This is the third time this free event has been organised in the Bucks area. This year it is on Booker Airfield, Marlow (I always thought it was High Wycombe) but it is 2 miles from Jn4 on the M40). The organisers have asked me to extend an invitation to HMVF members to come along and join what appears to be a great day. This year there will be an area set aside for military vehicles to be displayed to the public, and there maybe a drive through the local area as well, depending on numbers. There is an air display, show arena and 2 stages. Rumour has it there will be a bar as well. You are welcome to come along as a spectator (which is free) or bring along your vehicle to let people see and maybe ask questions if you would like to bring your vehicle along can you please contact Paul Weston on 07784491097 or pajweston@hotmail.com He tells me there will be an area set aside for us but for those that are up for it there could be a convoy to the event meeting in nearby Marlow and driving the 5 miles to the even site (TBC). Also if you contact Paul there is a chance of getting some fuel money to help with expenses. I will try to answer questions and will put a link in to the website when it is up and running. https://www.buckscc.gov.uk/services/culture-and-leisure/armed-forces-day-2019/?print=true Please place a mark in your diary and look forward to seeing you there.
  6. Thanks for the bearing numbers, I did find them on another post, but stands repeating. I was only really wondering when the bearings were placed back on the shaft, did the bearings have to be pressed on, or did nature place them in the right place?
  7. I am just about to do the same job, replace the fan bearings, but you didn't fiinsh your excellent post, did it all go back together? did you have to press the new bearings on? But thanks for the original post it is an excellent guide.
  8. A big public thank you to Sirhc, Just as I was about to loose it big time, he offered a few wise words and they kinda calmed me down and got me back on track. I hope I am on to the last hurdle and that a registration number will be mine shortly.
  9. Hi Chris, i totally agree the hull number is irrelevant but MVT and DVLA don’t believe me, can I ask when you registered your vehicles? Do you have a copy of the v55’s or any names of anyone who dealt with your registration. If I can get any details I can go back to DVLA but at the moment they have told me to go back to my ‘club’
  10. Hi everyone, i have been looking to purchase a tracked vehicle for some time and last December a CVRT Spartan dropped in to my lap. Very happy bunny but with no documents I called DVLA and was sent a v55/5. I was told I would need some varifcation and a form was sent off to MVT. One quick visit and the paperwork was started. Unfortunately MVT would not issue any paperwork as there where no supporting documents. Writing off to Bovingdon Tank Museum I received a vehicle history card showing that the registration was issued to a spartan in 1980.. however it does not mention the hull number anywhere and that is the problem... I can not find anyone that has any documentation that links the 2 together.. I have tried MOD, Alvis, Red Triangle, Alvis fighting vehicles, Alvis Archive, Bovingdon, Coventry Transport Museum..... I am now becoming stuck has anyone else been through this and knows of a way out!!!!!!
