  1. I did to speak to the owner he does have some manuals for the shielder. He also spoke to someone who confirmed the oil situation is a red herring.
  2. I relayed your message on, and he said the issue was before the change and reamins after the change, so he did not think it was to do with the oil, but for completness included it.
  3. I came across this site when I was researching my own registration number. It has a very simplistic way of describing the differnet types of military number plates http://www.nice-reg.co.uk/number-plates/number-plates/military-number-plates.html I assume, but dont know they know what they are talking about.
  4. I hope someone can help, I got a cry for help but being a newbe thought I should pass the cry on On the Shielder front I think I've narrowed down the symptom description to: In auto it'll move off and keep going but regardless of how much the pedal heads to the metal and the revs build up it stays in that gear. The engine isn't struggling at any point. I don't know what gear it is because there's no indicator. I've also experienced lag between auto selection and anything happening and multiple now where I've had to come out of auto and then back in before anything happens. Selecting manual is off little use. It's not happily going into gear and when it does it's violent. Same between gears up and down the box and I'm not getting full range. Reading the tech stuff the electronics are supposed to ensure full synchro and therefore smooth operation so it's definitely not operator error. I've only recently started to use the Shielder and discovered from the person who had it before I got it that it was never used in auto and manual was a constant issue so I've inherited these problems along with a gearbox full of 220 hypoid oil which has now been changed for 90s, flushed as well as poss and the filter thoroughly washed in kero. The problems as described above whilst existing before are what's happening now post gearbox oil change so although the correct grade surely improves the overall situation it doesn't seem it was the source of the gremlins. There's no mechanical noises suggesting physical damage to the guts of the gearbox. After reading the forums here I did read the part about the gearbox not working after the tacho sending wires became disconnected, but the Tacho works correctly
  5. Hi Chris, Thanks for the parts breakdown, I do have that , thank god for e-bay, and now I know I can take it apart I will give it ago to see whats inside 😀 I will update the topic with what happens so others will know
  6. As a newbie to military vehicles, and a newbie CVRT Spartan owner I have a million and one questions normally as I am taking something apart and reliase I have little idea what I am doing I am awaiting manuals as we speak I noticed the Equilibrator on the drivers hatch had a broken mount so removed the Equilibrator and found it to be completly stuck. I have now freed it up but it does not do anything other than just moving freely in and out. Looking thorugh various sites trying to source a replacement, I released not only could I not find one, I didn't understand how it actually works and the more I read the more confused I got. I understand it is there to help with the movement of the drivers hatch, to make it easier to open and close and not feel like a ton weight. So the question is, it is effectivly a gas strut? is it filled with "fluid"? Is it filled with air and the resistance to the air movement helps with counter acting the weight? what is the internal contruction? can I take a very large hammer to it and take it apart to replace anything inside that has perished? Does anyone know where I can find on? So far you kind people have been very helpful with my questions I am hopeing it carries on
  7. What can I say Noel7 thank you, another piece to the puzzle that is my question. I am being asked to attend charity functions and I expect people to ask questions and really want some background the bullet holes make an interesting talking point to

  9. Hi, I thought the same thing and looked around but the character does not translate at all in anything but Japanese, but then it is not close. I was more wondering if anyone "knew"
  10. Where did the "boxer" come from and does anyone one what the "Chinese"? characters mean? I did some research and seem to think it means "Fist" but the symbols were not quite the same
  11. MatchFuzee you star, that was getting me well frustrated,
  12. Hi All, I have an CVRT Spartan that was used by the 25 Field Squadron, Royal Engineers. I have looked on line and found a little information about the squadron, but not alot. I have found the "sappers" website but it really does not have anything "useful". I have also descovered their emblem (below) but I have not had any luck finding out what it means, of even managed to find an electronic version of it (this was taken from a polo shirt ) can anyone please help me out ? Lance

There are a couple of websites now up and running https://www.buckscc.gov.uk/services/culture-and-leisure/armed-forces-day-2019/?print=true this one lists what is going on. I am told we will have access to the field from 15:00 the previous day if you are thinking of bringing a vehicle down. If anyone is staying over in the area I would love to meet up and let you buy my a beer in my local establishment. They also do food
  14. Hi Chris, that is a good price but yes I got the ones I mentioned
  15. Been on to the bearing supplier and they do comerical bearin pullers as well, if you can't find any anywhere else then of course I will give you their details
  16. As I said in my last post I paid £17 and £18
  17. I have just got the 2 bearings and one is £17 the other is £18 but 1 of them is 23mm wide not 25mm
  18. Hi Chris, yes please, I would far rather use the correct size than pack them out. cheers Lance
  19. I have been intouch with the bearing suppliers, the first quote was over £70 each 🙂 horror... I then spoke to a very nice lady who explained that the ones I asked for are of course custom sizes and have to come over from the US, but if I would take a slightly narrower bearing I could save £50. Even better she is sending them for approval first and for 2mm difference I will look at shimming the bearing. I will let everyone know what happens ones
  20. No12 Mk1 FV754926 are the details according to my parts list so I don't know how much modification these would need. My email is lance_parsons@hotmail.com
  21. there are pullers you can get that are a lot bigger than the one shown, have a look at e-bay, but commercial ones should do fine, at least I am hoping when I do mine soon
  22. Hi Bob, did you have any luck? I have not had any other responses yet so I am moving forward with making a facsimile well trying
  23. Base Smoke Grenade Discharger - FV754931 Starting to restore my spartan certain bits are missing and I need to recreate or buy in. The next job on my list smoke dischargers. Having read thorugh the posts on here and the searching the web I came up withthe sizes and dimensions for the tubes but not anything on the base. As we all know it is not mearly the foot print of the base that I need to know but also the angles of the tubes. I have tried to measure the angles with my phone using a protactor app on printed pictures but its not as easy as it sounds :) Can any on please point me in the right direction to get these measurements or actually tell me what they are. Thanks all
