  2. Locally I get asked this question all the time about vehicles and trailers.

     

    My stock in trade answer is "do you know for sure what conditions the wheel bearings are in?"

     

    After pausing for a minute, most people put the item on a trailer.

Just a quick note to say the first production run of these has sold out and I have already booked a slot in the production schedule at the machine shop for run number two to happen and am taking orders for those and expect metal chip to fly in the mill in the last week of this month, that is as soon as I can get them rolling.

     

    As these are being sent out by insured and signature required delivery they take a bit of time.

    A. Sure can, but carries no warranty like the ones with the Maple Leaf, it is part of my branding of the product.

     

    The Maple Leaf is carried with pride but it also carries certain other elements that ensure we can identify the item as being from my production and not a nasty inferior knock off, which will happen over time I am certain because that is human nature. No Maple Leaf means that likely it isn't the same material used, which will likely be the cause of a failure.

    A. I believe it will, I have not seen the FV number for the Saracen, or Saladin or Stalwart or CVR(T) as yet but it looks very likely that unless there is a minor variant on the base design then yes it will. We know that the CVR(T) petrol powered version uses a similar unit for the engone oil and also the Belgian versions have a similar gearbox oil filter mount but I am scrambling to get eyes on the FV numbers and the units themselves to ensure that my fairly certain supposition is proven to be a dead cert before I advertise it as such.

     

    However, it seems others, wiser than me, already believe this to be true judging by the emails landing in my inbox asking to order them.

     

    I have orders from around the globe so far.

  5. I have designed, with friends, and produced with another local chap, a much needed product.

     

    It is a spin on adapter for the Ferret oil filter canister assembly.

     

    The adapter comes with securing hardware and our recommendation of what filter to use.

     

    We have trialed and proven the set up. Painting the civvy filter the engine bay colour will make it blend in and be almost invisible.

     

    I am taking EMT within Canada or by paypal to those outside Canada.

     

    Price per unit is 125 Canadian dollars and postage is an extra and will be quoted.

     

    The first production run is complete and there are a few left, the rest have sold by word of mouth already locally.

  6. As a fabricator it doesn't look overly complicated to make a repro one. No doubt once you have finished the repro and put the last coat of paint on it 5 of them will appear on Milweb.

     

    Maybe as an ex smoker who had many a fag ruined by buses turning up I am jaded in my opinion.

  7. I think between you and Terry B you both explain quite well the answer to your own question.

     

    Most people in this hobby look for something that that will act as an extension for their male genitalia frankly. I have always loved the mad design of the push me pull you Combat Engineer Tractor, but I am old enough to understand the stupidness or impractical level that it reaches, it is also monster to haul around.

     

    At work we have a Stormer which has loads of power and is a joy to drive but lacks the main gun so many desire and is a bit wider than the generation 1 CVR(T) platform.

     

    If pure mechanical appeal was the only criteria to have a military vehicle I think then the Thornycroft trench digger followed by a Muir Hill excavator with an Eager Beaver followed by a Might Antar would be my wet dream fantasy vehicles, I have come close to owning some of them so far.

     

    I did see that there is a CVR(T) Samson project listed in the uk for GBP 9,000 which really tempts me as it is my fave Generation 1 variant.

     

    Practical is not everyone else's cup of tea it would seem

  8. Coming along nicely.

     

    I see yellow paint around the breather vent for the front left bevel box, I do hope it has not been painted over as it wont work if it has. I have so far seen 2 bevel boxes blow the seals after repeated paintings.

     

    I have a spare convoy light for the rear if you need one, maybe if you come up for Aquino I could put it in your palm.

  9. I am very curious, as we have had this discussion in our shop concerning the haulage of big lumpy vehicles over here.

     

    If you say you have 20k GBP why wouldn't you do without the aggro and hire someone to move it around as and when needed? No looking after the rig in between, no insurance or annual inspections required. No storage in between usage under cover.

     

    Just curious as to why you feel the urge to spend that kind of money?
