  1. The time has come to do some blasting and painting, looking at removing the turret, i want to leave the ring gear bearing in place, so looking at the 18 or so allen key type bolts inside the turret on the top plate above the ring gear bearing, im i right in thinking these bolts go a long way to removing the turret?

  2. Just a quick word of warning.

Traffic from the South using the A64 / A169 junction should be aware of a set of roadworks just off the A64 junction.

Building a new roundabout to access Eden Camp area.

Traffic lights in operation causing queuing traffic back onto the roundabout.

For those heading away back towards York late afternoon queues on a Sunday can be about a mile long.

Worth considering diverting via Kirkby Misperton, Amotherby, Slingsby, Sherrif Hutton and York Ringroad.

Takes about 10 - 15 minutes longer than a normal day on the A64.[/QUO

Are you part of the event ploughman? Would have liked to bring the sabre along but its not old enough

  3. Yes. See my post re fuel tank on Scorpion. I did take the seat out though. Just one nut and bolt and the seat pops up off it's spring.

I tried to get the seat out of the hatch but it appears to be a very tight fit, so i just put it to one side in the turret...

The lower bolts on the access panel are tricky to get at, but do-able.

I ran a die over all the stud threads before undoing them to get the paint off, so avoid the studs coming out.[/QUOT

I will be cleaning the sabre fuel tank out this week, just taken the seats out and other stuff, lots of room now!

Does the fuel sender need taking out first then the big plate or can the big plate come out in 1 lump with everything on it?

    Andrew

  4. Thankyou for your replies, new filter, pump filter ok, restriction in tank? not sure, pump ticks very fast all the time, im sure my spartan never use to, not that fast anyway. New pump ordered, looking at new pump flow rates, not found one that pumps as little as 1/L/ min.

It may pump quite well with an open flow but once the flow is restricted it may not be able to pump quite so well.

  5. Thanks, most helpful :-D

  6. Can the large inspecton hatch and fuel sender be removed with the turn table thing still in place? removal of the curved plate which is bolted on the turn table in front of the fuel inspection hatch may make things a little easier. i intend to clean the fuel tank inside for piece of mind if its not too difficult

  7. Im putting a A1 reconditioned engine in the sabre at the weekend, ive collected the recon engine from withams today.

It states that the engine has been internally preserved, is there anything i need to do because of this? or do i just put oil in and start?

    Regard Andrew

  8. Im after a abbott, would like to know more about it if your not intrested norbo, i have a very nice spartan if your intrested!

    Regards Andrew

as i say the looks dont bother me that much and dirty motor does not bother me i just dont want a motor that has so much oil around the rocker covers that its dripping out the drain holes in the sump and a motor that doesn't back fire when you rev it, and if i do take a chance on such a thing i dont pay so much that i have nothing left to pay some one to lok at the motor and fix it . This abbot has had the engine complementary re done and new inter coolers that's why i was interested in it but i think its to big. but as its a friend of a friend i may still go for a look depends what he is asking for it.
  9. I thought 24v goes into the junction box, the ballast resistor brings the voltage down to 12v for the coil. Thought i was bypassing the ballast resistor as i cannot tell which terminal takes the 24v feed and not wanting to fry any componants.

    Regards Andrew

  10. I wish to test run a j60 engine out of the vechicle, ive sorted the wiring to get the starter motor turning but not too sure about the wiring for getting a spark. Its the electronic ignition system.

Looking in the terminal junction box i see the red wire coming from the ign terminal, i put 12v to this thinking this should do the job but nothing!

Any ideas on how this should be wired?

    Regards Andrew
